I find that AMD tends to have better value. Especially if you go with the new AM5 platform, you’ll be able to upgrade the CPU in a few years without upgrading the motherboard. As far as performance and reliability goes, they’re both good options. What’s up guys I’m about to have a lot of questions so I’m keeping them specific with each post lol
I’m embarking in a new journey of building my first PC, Reddit has given me some great info but it’s scattered throughout reddits quantum realm.
Experts is there really a difference between the two CPUs? Yes there’s of lot more options than just two, this is in regards to manufacturer wise.

The problems with Intel CPUs: They tend to be slower than AMD CPUs in gaming. 90% of the people in the sub are building gaming PCs. They draw a lot of power and create a lot of heat. This affects your electricity bills and requires you to buy a better cooler. Worst of all, they are mostly on a dead platform. Very few people are buying the current generation Core Ultra 200 CPUs because they are actually slower at gaming than the previous generation. So, people are buying the 12th/13th/14th gen CPUs. These are on the LGA1700 socket which has already seen its last CPU. AMD, on the other hand, has promised support for the AM5 socket until at least 2027. More on reddit.com

Depends a lot on your specific workload and software. But I’ve personally experienced issues with AMD in the past—like stuttering during video editing or slow rendering, frame drops when gaming with multiple monitors open, and frequent lag. Are these problems still a thing with AMD, or have they been resolved? Those generally aren't a thing that'll be related to a specific CPU. GPU drivers maybe, and in some software Nvidia stuff is indeed still strongly preferred, but again, that depends a lot on what specific software you care about. More on reddit.com

Ryzen tends to be better with battery life, performance on battery and iGPU performance. Performance when plugged in tends to be similar between the two brands unless TDP is low, in which case the Ryzen would normally be better. Gaming tends to need a dGPU, but if you're getting something without a GPU then Ryzen would be preferable for the better iGPU. However this is a more general description.
