After researching for way too long, I finally ordered the percale sheet set from American Blossom and just received it today. I’m already regretting buying these $300+ sheets. I loved buying American made, and tons of reviews (several on here) said they were amazing. But they are SO scratchy feeling, like paper. I’ve had percale sheets before, so I know they are more “crisp”, but this is extreme. I already washed them with vinegar, and they still feel the same. Please tell me they get better?? They have a generous return policy, but I’m not if I should give them more washes to soften up?

I could have told you that lol. They dont get better. I got rid of mine after about 8 months. Thomas lee is way better. I've personally purchased red land cotton, American blossom, and Thomas lee. Thomas lee is obviously better than the others.

Washing will only go far as to making them softer. I’d return and start exploring the mid to upper level percale lines from luxury makers like Sferra, Matouk, Frette, etc. Their best stuff uses the highest extra long staple cotton and has much better finishing than the many “online only” branded percale. I’ve been a big fan of Sferra, start at Celeste, or their Finna percale. It’s pricey but will last a really long time if take care of properly. If you really want to stay in the $300 range, Hotel Collection/Hudson Park from Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s makes a nice Italian percale.
