r/CreditCards on Reddit: No physical credit card, cant find my AMEX account number, please help.
April 17, 2014 -

I am in dire need of help. I have an inactive account with AMEX that i opened in 2009. I opened up the card with my ex girlfriend as a shared account at that time. I barely used it, but she ended up raking up a $5000 bill over a short period of time while i was traveling for some time. When i found out, i quickly canceled the account. We broke up and she bailed on paying the bill. At some point i threw the card out since i wasnt using it and just accepted paying the bill. I want to now do a balance transfer to another credit card with 0% APR and $0 balance transfer fee. However, this new card (Chase Slate) wants me to enter the AMEX account number to do this. I dont have the old AMEX card (the credit card number IS the account number) and they dont want to give it to me over the phone because of security reasons. Its also not written on the website or on my monthly statements. How do i obtain MY OWN account number? it seems ridiculous i cant get a hold of it.
