Okay. I give up. Event viewer occasionally says Secure Boot CA/keys need to be updated. For other reasons it seemed like the BIOS needed to be updated but it was a hassle so I put it off. But I have no idea which exact utility and variant I need to use to update my BIOS. Sure, we are told to download the correct update file from your computer or motherboard manufacturer's website and etc but it isn't always clear to the ignorant such as myself which is the correct update file and/or utility.

Help?
I've found out that my BIOS Version/date is: "American Megatrends Inc. 1.00, 10/19/2017", How can I update it?
I've found this page: "https://www.ami.com/products/firmware-tools-and-utilities/bios-uefi-utilities/" but I'm not sure if this is what I need, or what of the four links I should download.
I'm using Windows 10, if there is the need to know other things, just let me know.
Thank in advance!

Hello, I've been trying to update the BIOS on my Ultra Durable B460M DS3H AC-Y1 mobo without success. I've been trying to use Qflash from a USB drive but continuously get "BIOS ID CHECK ERROR". From what I gather that error means the BIOS software is not compatible with the board, but I've been getting it directly from Gigabyte here.
I'm really not sure why it isn't working, is it possibly because I am on such an old version (F2) or am I downloading the wrong software
UPDATE:
I reached out to ABS who built the pc and they confirmed that the -Y1 designation is attached because it is an OEM board. They were able to provide me the most up to date compatible BIOS (F6) which worked flawlessly for me. If anyone finds themselves in the same situation DM me and I can provide the file, or reach out to your respective PC builder
Could you please help me update my BIOS?

Hey guys, I bought a used laptop that unfortunately has the mousepad not working (only working sometimes when using four fingers) and one ram slot thst doesnโt work either.
My last attempt to fix it is updating the Bios. However I have no idea how. Does anyone know where or how I can update the bios of:
System model: P65_67HSHP BIOS mode: UEFI BIOS Version: American Megatrends Inc. 1.05.11 Windows 10
I tried downloading the following:
-
โamibios8 ami firmware update to utilityโ - when I run the exe it says driver not found. The other exe not working.
-
โAMI firmware update utilityโ full of zip files within zip files. Tried a bunch of the exe there, still not working.
Maybe I need to put them on USB and boot with them or?
I also tried booting into bios and there are no options there to update.
Thanks!
I'm gonna update my BIOS to be able to create an HDD password and therefore to use "Class 0" encryption which Samsung SSD's offer. I've read that built-in (Class 0) encryption doesn't affect performance and is good enough. (Please don't tell me to use other encryption methods as I know they exist, just answer if you can help with BIOS update)
My BIOS is old and it only allowed me to put "Administrator or User Passwords". I tried both but "Samsung Magician" still shows Class 0 is not activated. I think the HDD password is something different than those master passwords. Therefore I couldn't activate Class 0 encryption mode. Since my BIOS doesn't allow putting password on HDD's I wanna update it and see if I get that option in newer versions.
Now help a n00b who's afraid of blue screens.
My BIOS is "American Megatrends Inc. 2011 ver. 2.10.1206 " My motherboard is manufactured by Pegatron, model: IPXSB-H61 (Socket 1155) This motherboard doesn't exist on the internet. It has no websites. No support. No downloads. I guess it was only manufactured for a pre-built PC company for a short period time.
So I downloaded American Megatrends tool here: https://ami.com/products/bios-uefi-tools-and-utilities/bios-uefi-utilities/
I've read AMI Firmware Update (AFU)'s manual but man... oh man... I understand nothing.
1. Since there's no website and no support for my Mobo, is it ok to update my BIOS with the tools American Megatrends provide?
2. How do I use their tool to backup my current BIOS and then update it?
AMI provides bios files on their website. I have a generic motherboard thats giving me issues and I cant find the manufacturer or a more up to date bios. Can I flash the generic AMI bios on their website to it without bricking it?
The creator of my motherboard is Medion. I went up to their official site, but there wasn't any bios update for my system.
My MSN number is: 10019880
I want to update my bios because it's from 2014, it's very old and it misses out important settings that I need.
In light of the recent Intel bug affecting 13th Gen and 14th Gen processors, I've created a web tool to help you easily find and update your motherboard BIOS. Here's what it does:
-
Quickly search for your motherboard model
-
Provides direct links to the latest BIOS download page for your board
-
Shows which motherboards have the latest microcode update available
-
Includes step-by-step instructions on how to update your BIOS
The tool covers motherboards from major manufacturers like ASUS, ASRock, Gigabyte, and MSI.
Check it out here: https://tjames37.github.io/motherboard-search
I hope this helps make the BIOS update process easier and more accessible for non-technical people. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback!
I have seen several videos on the BIOS update procedure for Asus motherboards and every one of them showed this "AMIBIOS/American Megatrends/Press F1 to Run SETUP" screen after completing the update.
I have updated my BIOS for the first time, I was expecting to press F1 after the update as shown in the videos but instead it went straight into the BIOS screen without my intervention and it appears to have completed the update successfully and there is no there are other operations to do given that the version installed now is the new one of the update.
Now it's been sitting in the BIOS for 10 minutes without showing any operations in progress. I can navigate through the various menus normally and everything seems in the right place. I guess I can turn off the computer without having any problems but I wonder why I didn't get that "F1 confirmation screen".
Did I do something wrong? Do I need to worry?
EDIT:
My motherboard is: Asus ROG STRIX B650E-E GAMING WIFI
The old BIOS version was: 1809.
Now, after the update, it shows: 2413.
