July 14, 2020 - I built this lovely, modern park bench the weekend. The only adjustment I made was to make the legs out of 4x4s. I like this plan because it's all straight, right angle cuts, a one day project, which I tackled by myself.

April 24, 2020 - This easy to build DIY bench can be used alone, or pair with our matching modern outdoor dining table ... Build the basic frame for the bench with the longer screws. The cut list is correct with the ends at 12-7/8". Adjust the frame for square by taking opposite diagonal measurements and making sure the two opposite diagonals match. Screw the legs to the frame with the longer screws. Lay the slats out on top with a 1/2" gap in between. Screw down with the shorter screws. ... Thank you Ana for the plans.

June 9, 2014 - We used the design to make a bench for an Eagle Project for the Rescued Pets Movement. I did the work with my Grandfather purchasing, measuring, and cutting all the wood. It took one day to purchase and cut the wood and another day to build it.

May 21, 2025 - Here's the bench with the aprons attached. I did end up adding some extra bracing, thinking with the length the extra support could be a good idea. The frame of the table is made out of red-toned 2x lumber. I have spent many years testing different lumber for outdoor projects, and have found that the red-toned lumber is the most durable, even more durable than cedar, for exterior projects.

Great plans! I modified the bench by adding a slanted back (which enabled me to put the slats closer together), extending and curving the front of the arms and extended the seat to the outside of the legs.

Took me about a week to cut, sand, stain and put it together (and then i stained and sealed again). Actually assembling it took only a few hours.
