First, what drill are you using that has 6000 max RPM? Second, any diamond bit I've seen recommends pretty low RPM, like <1000 RPM. 3rd, drilling a hole with an angle grinder sounds a lot harder to do accurately (without a jig) than a drill. I've drilled tile and granite, holes from 1/4 to 2" using an 18V drill, and I don't think I ever gave it full power. More on reddit.com

when i used to do renovations i'd use diamond core bits on an angle grinder to cut out holes for faucets in countertops. don't do that anymore, but one of my honey-do items is drilling 1/4 in hole in some plates for the wife's cookie trays.
anyway, does anyone know if there is an adapter that's a female 5/8 thread on one end to a female 1/4 hex on the other? have some small diamond drill bits that should do the drilling but would rather use my grinders 13000 rpm to my drills 6000.
alternately, is this a stupid idea that should never be spoken of again?

I wouldn't work with adapters in this case. The angle grinder hole saws you used back then are engineered for higher speeds than the stuff with a regular drill shaft.

Hello, I am looking to buy an angle grinder to attach a bit on for mushroom cultivation on logs. I am looking for something cordless and I like to BIFL. I don't know tools well enough on my own. Historically, Id rather have too much power, than not enough. I will be drilling 2" holes every 6 in along 6" dia hardwood.
I would like to be able to use it for other things as well, just definitely need it for this project.
I was going to link the ones I was thinking of. Feel free to advise, discourage, warn, all tips are appreciated. I have a couple Stihl saws for the cutting. Good there.
This one says "tool only" not sure why?
Normally, I would buy the brand Bosch for quality, but i don't want to spend that much.
This is another brand I recognize, here yet seeking advice.
What's my best tool for the job/mid range price? I want a good performing reliable tool. Is it worthwhile to spend more for any reason?

Are you looking to drill 2" holes into hardwood? If so You want a beefy drill, not an angle grinder. Angle grinders generally don't drill holes, they grind and cut. Cordless angle grinders suck up a lot of juice. They'll go through a 5AH battery in like 5 minutes of continuous use. If you don't already have some decent cordless tool batteries, you'll spend more on the batteries to run your angle grinder than you will on the grinder itself. You'll want a 4 1/2", 5" or 6" angle grinder. Anything smaller isn't really suitable for general use. Most of the major brands have a few different angle grinders available. The cheaper ones are considerably less powerful than the more expensive ones. But the powerful ones + a big battery are going to set you back at least $300. The listings that say "tool only" or "bare tool" have only the tool, and no batteries or chargers. Any listing that doesn't specifically say it includes batteries, will not include batteries. Makita, Bosch, Milwaukee, DeWalt, Metabo all have decent cordless options.

December 19, 2019 - Made from a threaded rod coupler nut that I cut in half, it has 5/8-11 threads that fit the grinder (most grinders have that thread size) and a fine thread bolt welded into the other end that fits my particular drill chuck. (one from an old dead H.F. drill I had lying around) Second is another adapter made from the other half of that coupler nut (lol) that has a 1/4 inch center hole with set screw. I made this for these Twist Lock style sanding pads but this adapter will fit any tool with a 1/4 inch shank.

March 31, 2019 - I make adapters for my angle grinder to accept 1/4" shaft sanding mandrels. The process would be the same for 3/8". I start with 5/8" connecting nuts. These thread onto the grinder's shaft. Into the other end, I thread a 5/8" bolt and thread it down just short of where it would hit the end of the grinder's shaft. I glue that in place. I cut off the bolt flush with the end of the connecting nut. Then, I drill and tap that bolt for 1/4" threaded sanding mandrels.
