I’ve been wanting to add Anki reviews as a part of language learning routine for Spanish and recently tried to make my own deck. While I know making your own cards are more effective for remembering words/phrases, the process of making descent cards is annoying enough that I just end up avoiding it all together.

I know I’m missing on a high quality tool by avoiding Anki and I would like to improve my vocabulary, so I’m curious if there are any recommended Anki desks I could look into for this. I figure less effective SRS is better then none.

I have messed with a few of the pre-made anki decks. There's a few good ones, but in my opinion the best value comes from creating and expanding your own decks as you expand your vocabulary. For what you are describing, I prefer clozemaster. They have a lot of different sets including "most common words" which has 11 diffrent sets ranging from 100 words up to 50,000+ words. All the words are presented in context and a lot of their sentences they use are very entertaining. They also have sets on grammar like "ser vs estar", "por vs para", "conditional vs future", etc.. All in all, for me I prefer to use anki to reinforce vocabulary that I have learned from other sources, and clozemaster for a flash card style app to learn new vocabulary.

I figure less effective SRS is better then none. It isn't. Managing Anki sucks. I went through that with Chinese and I understand the pain and agree with it. But premade decks - it's hard to know what you're getting, especially when they're huge decks. I hate to say it (because I know from experience that it sucks) but the best decks are your own, and I'd say that no SRS is better than bad SRS.

January 29, 2016 - That is how I've learned all of these words. The list that I'm going through in Anki/Quizlet is the '1001 Most Useful Spanish Words' (you can find it by searching Anki or Quizlet for 1001). They're not exactly high frequency, but they are very beneficial to have in your vocabulary.
