The movies were so amazing but they just left me asking for more tbh, i dont know hannibals backstory and i do not want to watch the hannibal tv show . Hopkins is my hannibal. Maybe i just need to rewatch them

i had a similar opinion of hopkins as hannibal. i thought there was no way anyone else could play him - that it was RIDICULOUS to even try. and then i saw the tv series and it absolutely changed my mind. mikkelson redefines the character, in so many excellent ways. and the tv series is honestly brilliant and exciting in how it references and engages with the books.

I grew up with Hopkins but I love Mads as Hannibal. He made it clear he wasn’t trying to be Hopkins playing Hannibal because he knew he wouldn’t live up to that, I also really enjoy the books as well and think they’re worth reading.

So i had the opportunity to finally watch "The silence of the lambs", with Anthony Hopkins interpreting Hannibal Lecter. When i finished the movie I went to google Anthony Hopkins' movies and i found out he is the same person who interpreted Hannibal Lecter in both "Red Dragon" and "Hannibal". My question is: are those movies a trilogy or they are just different movies with the same actor interpreting the same character? And in case you watched those movies, did you like them?

Their a trilogy yes but many find the quality to vary alot among them. I've always liked all three of his hannibal movies. The prequel Hannibal rising notsomuch

Red Dragon is worthwhile for Philip Seymour Hoffman's small role where he manages to radiate sleaze through your telly box. Such a loss. It has its moments. The newspaper montage, if you have paid attention to the dinner is grimly funny. It has some basis in reality. A psychologist who interviewed serial killers actually received a birthday card from John Wayne Gacy at her home. Hannibal is pretty silly. With a changed ending from the book, which is even sillier. It seems like Thomas Harris tried to make Lecter into almost an anti hero. Julianne Moore is a fine actor, but lacks Jodi's bruised quality. They are not as clever as SOTL, where Lecter tells Starling how to catch Jame Gumb early on, and we see her in the end in the dark, literally blind. Or the references to real life killers like Ed Gein and Ted Bundy. I'd recommend Red Dragon, and Hannibal for a slow Tuesday night.
