I wanted to share my experience at the bridal sample sale at the New York City downtown Anthropologie location for any brides who might going in the future!
The sample sale was today (January 26, 2026) from 7am to 11am. The temperature at 7am was 34 degrees F, so it’s possible that could have impacted turnout.
I was coming in from Jersey City and was joined by my mom and my sister. After reading about others’ past experiences we decided to arrive at 5am. When we walked up, we were the first ones there. The next group arrived within a minute or two after. By 6am, the crowd had grown to about 20 people, and from 6am to 7am the line became very long and wrapped around the block. Staff came out periodically to direct us to a side building entrance (and led the line there in an orderly fashion) and confirm doors would open at 7am.
At 7am, they brought the line into the building concourse to try to keep as many people out of the cold as possible. They told us they would allow fifteen people into the store at a time and notified us of general policies: Brides were allowed to take three dresses into the fitting room. After those three were tried on, you were welcome to go back to the racks and pick more (again, limited to three) and get back in line for the fitting room. They also notified us that the majority of dresses were in size 6 or 14 with limited availability in all other sizes. We were then led to the downstairs level where the bridal area is.
There were roughly ten racks of bridal gowns with maybe about 120-150 dresses total. It definitely wasn’t hectic because of the 15 person limit, but there was an urgency to comb through the racks quickly due to the limited selection. My mom, sister, and I split up and all selected dresses that matched my vision. We came back together and eliminated any duplicates, then I chose my favorite three and returned the others to the racks. We moved quickly, so there was no fitting room line yet. The fitting rooms were comfortable with large mirrors and pedestals in the common area. Employees were available to help zipper, clamp, and answer any questions about dresses. Of the three, I liked the first and LOVED the third. According to the timestamps on the photos we took, I decided on the third dress at 7:22am to give you a sense of how quickly things moved. The one I picked is still available on the website (Jenny Yoo Madeline Corset A-Line Strapless Lace Wedding Gown).
They encourage you to return any dresses you don’t like as soon as possible so the racks are continued to be restocked frequently. If you don’t find something you like on your first pass, definitely go back. The fitting room line had gotten longer by the time I left but seemed to move quickly.
Most of the dresses are in satisfactory condition. Some had mild wear or were dirty around the bottom but they generally seemed like easy repairs. My dress has a broken zipper. Some of their dresses look familiar from the website but some I had not seen before. Because I didn’t look at too many I’m not totally sure of the price ranges, but the first one I tried was $300 and the third was $400.
Some other notes:
I would definitely recommend going with a friend or relative to help quickly sort through dresses.
At the time I went, there was scaffolding wrapping around the perimeter of the building. The weather was clear for us, but in case there was bad weather we would have been somewhat sheltered.
They put the dresses inside a disposable clear plastic garment bag at checkout.
When I left the store around 7:45am there were at least a couple hundred people in line. I imagine the selection would likely be very limited if you weren’t in the first several groups to enter.
The sale also included some white mini dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and bridal accessories.
anthropologie weddings had their sample sale on sunday 6/8 and it’s been extended until thursday 6/12!
they have wedding dresses ranging $300-$500 and little white dresses at discounted prices
i found beautiful earrings for a big discount too
There’s a BEAUTIFUL dress that has caught my eye and I want to order to try it on (don’t live anywhere near I could try it on in person). To keep to ordering one size, how does their sizing feel? True, a little small, etc? I can only afford to buy one at a time to try on the sizes 😅
Scroll to the bottom for the TLDR if this is too long for you, but it’s been an absolutely nightmare.
I ordered a Jenny Yoo wedding dress from Anthropologie back in August—four months ago. When it finally arrived a week ago, I opened the box to find a completely different dress in the wrong size. The packing slip was correct, but the dress wasn’t.
I called customer service right away, hoping they’d fix it. Instead, they told me the only option was to exchange it for the correct dress—but it wouldn’t arrive until after my wedding because it’s made to order. I refused.
I tried everything after that. I called Jenny Yoo directly and they couldn’t help me. I even called the Anthropologie store manager at Century City, but she had no answers either.
Out of desperation, I made a TikTok about what happened and posted on Reddit. A few days later, the mother of the bride whose dress I received commented on my TikTok. She told me her daughter had my dress and was in the same predicament as I was. Her experience had been just as bad—if not worse—than mine.
Her daughter waited months for her dress only to receive the wrong size. After sending it back and waiting again, Anthropologie sent her the wrong dress—mine.
Anthropologie themselves never told us about the mix-up. They told me that they “found” my dress at another location. What they didn’t mention was that it was actually the same dress I’d already confirmed with the other bride’s mom. If I hadn’t connected with her on TikTok, I wouldn’t have known and we wouldn’t have found each other’s dresses!!!
Now, it’s been weeks since we were supposed to have our dresses and we still don’t have it. Anthropologie has been slow to respond and unapologetic, They offered us a 10% discount, but that doesn’t even begin to make up for this mess and all the stress it gave us and not to mention all the time wasted going to other bridal shops and calling them!
If I hadn’t gone public on TikTok, both of us might have been left without dresses at all.
This whole experience has been a nightmare. Anthropologie has been unresponsive, disorganized, and completely lacking in accountability. Both of us did everything right, and they’ve made mistake after mistake without even a real apology.
This was supposed to be one of the happiest times of our lives, and instead, it’s been nothing but stress.
TL;DR: I ordered a Jenny Yoo wedding dress from Anthropologie, and after waiting four months, they sent the wrong dress and size. Turns out, they also messed up another bride’s dress order, and we accidentally got each other’s dresses. Anthropologie didn’t tell us about the mix-up, offered no real help, and only a 10% discount. If I hadn’t gone public on TikTok, neither of us would have our dresses. It’s been over a week, and we’re still waiting. Absolute nightmare.
EDIT: everyone seems to be commenting that I should’ve just sent it directly to the lady. honestly at the time I was too frazzled and stressed out, but also, what if this lady is a scammer? Of course I was a bit suspicious. what if I sent her dress and she never sends mine? she lives in a completely different state. So when she said she was going to send it to anthro for inspection I just followed suit. It’s our first time dealing with this so we just did what we were told to do.
