October 27, 2021Help Identifying Victorian/Edwardian Buffet with Markings "MGL" or "MCL 3924" (From Eastern Canada)
Hi all, This beautiful antique buffet belonged to my grandparents and is originally from Eastern Canada. I’m hoping someone here can help me identify it! It appears to be from the Victorian or Edwardian era, judging by the style, ornate carvings, and the tiger oak finish. It also has claw feet and an upper glass display case with curved glass and a mirror back. A few other interesting details: The drawers are lined with green felt, which looks original and may have been used to store silverware or delicate items. I’ve found a few markings on the piece, including "MGL 3924" or possibly "MCL 3924" (I'm unsure about the middle letter due to wear). It also has a vintage skeleton key that works with the lock. I'm hoping to get more information about the maker, history, and an approximate value of the piece. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help! More on reddit.com
