Originates from: Italy Era: 11th Century Dimensions: 8” H x 10” W (Frame), 5” W x 5” H (Vellum)   Incredible 11th century illuminated depiction of Christ In Majesty on rough vellum fragment. An incredibly crude and naive depiction showing Christ seated in a throne, as ruler of the world, flanked by a pair of angels. Bright silver dots surround Christ’s halo, drawing the eye heavily to this.  The vellum on this fragment has a rough verso, not prepared for use, this may have been a fragment of a larger piece, as seen by the later vellum repair in the top corner. This very rare and early piece ec
