Is it always bad idea to use a USB-A male to USB-C female adapter?

My macbook is connected to an Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, which has 1 HDMI port, 1 USB-A port, and 1 USB-C port for pass-through charging.
I use all those three ports on the Apple adapter, one for a 4k monitor, one for charging, and one for a USB-C hub, which has three USB-A ports and a SD card slot.
This is what my setup looks like. And I have been using a USB-A male to USB-C female adapter for the usb-c hub, and I have had no issue so far. But I recently found out that using a USB-A male to USB-C female adapter can potentially be dangerous.
So, I'm wondering if it is advisable to replace the USB-C hub with a USB-A hub, so that I don't have to use the adapter.
Bought this adapter so I can plug my Apple iPhone 15 charging cable into the USB female plug on my tabletop charger. Would I be correct in thinking that this adapter is just a pass through and that as long as the cable itself is Apple or MFI certified this adapter is safe to use with the phone?
