Hey everyone,
Just a bit of context: 7 days ago, I installed the Videoleap app from the Apple Store and started their free 7-day trial. However, I forgot to cancel my subscription before the renewal date. I then suddenly received an email saying I had been charged the yearly fee, so I immediately canceled my subscription and filed a refund claim.
I was just wondering if I’m eligible for a refund, given the situation above. Any thoughts and suggestions regarding this would be greatly appreciated. TYSM 🥹

You should be good. The fact that you acted on it so quickly after the charge came through and the fact that you already cancelled the subscription is good. Ultimately they’ll make the call, but I’d say you’ll get the refund no problem. I’ve seen a lot less get refunded in the past. Edit: Pro-tip, cancel the subscription immediately after starting the free trial and then you can decide if you wanna renew the subscription or not and you don’t have “automatic” surprises!

Hi everyone , I'm new to Apple ecosystem , just got an iphone last summer , I installed this app called Opal to help me with focus , I wasn't planning on using the premium version , they offered access to premium features within a week , my understanding was that after the free trial ends , I will be simply locked out of the premium features and continue to use the free version , however yesterday I was charged for 70$ !! I immediatly cancelled the subscription and asked for a refund through apple's website . How much likely that I will get a refund ?

I’m glad you submitted the refund request, it takes about 48 hours for a response. If you get denied and that was your first time requesting a refund for this, you can request a refund denial request and they will essentially just do the same process, you’ll get an answer in another 48 hours. Do not do a chargeback with your card company as this violates apples terms and conditions and they can permanently disable your account where you would lose all of your stuff and have to create a new Apple account. If it’s approved tho, you’ll get the money back within 30 days. You can always go to https://reportaproblem.apple.com to submit / check any refund requests !

When signing up for a free trial, you are explicitly told that you will be charged after the trial ends. You must cancel the subscription at least 24 hours before the free trial ends. “If you signed up for a free or discounted trial subscription and you don’t want to renew it, cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends.” If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support Sorry but this is entirely on you.
