I have an Iphone 12 Pro Max. Front Screen has been cracked for months and so is the back screen. it has chips in the back screen so bad that you literally see the battery. Phone looks like its been ran over. All of a sudden my phone keeps rebooting every 2 minutes. It just wont stay on. It will stay on for 2 minutes than it goes pink and restarts.
Other damages is $99
Under the express replacement info it says they will preauthorize my Credit Card for the price of a new phone and replace it. Will than charge any other applicable fees
If service is needed due to failure of parts that are not original to the product or due to damage caused by abuse, misuse or any external cause, Apple reserves the right to return the product to you without servicing it, and may hold you responsible for any indicated diagnostic fee. Apple will not be responsible for any damage to the product that occurs during the repair process that is a result of any unauthorized modifications or repairs or replacements not performed by Apple or an AASP. If damage results, Apple will seek your authorization for any additional costs for completing service even if the product is covered by warranty or an AppleCare service plan. If you decline authorization, Apple may return your product unrepaired in the damaged condition without any responsibility.
I feel like they can technically say I abused it...
Whats the deal here? Ive had Apple Care+ for years and have never used it. Hows the process? Pretty simple?
Hello,
I’m checking if anyone has had an AppleCare claim denied due to the accidental damage being “too severe”?
Here’s the situation.
I believe my M2 MacBook Pro was left on my roof while on a trip to a cabin in the Sierras. Once I got to the cabin I realized what had happened and checked my Find My app. The MacBook showed it was last seen on the highway about an hour away from where we were staying.
I decided my best option was to drive back down the highway looking for it on the side of the road. After a very slow drive down the road scanning the shoulder I found it! It was right where the app said it would be.
The laptop was in one piece but was in VERY rough shape. I did manage to open the lid and press the power button. It booted but nothing happened. Just made the boot up sound.
Since there was so much physical damage I did not want to risk something happening with the batteries. The bottom cover was barely hanging on so I pulled it away and disconnected them. I also used electrical tape to isolate the battery connection and taped the bottom cover back in place.
A couple days later I got it to the Apple Store and I was surprised when the employee told me my claim may be denied due to the extent of the damage.
Is this something anyone else has come across?
I thought this was the situation that AppleCare is for?
TLDR:
I left my M2 MBP on my roof. It got run over but is still in one piece. Apple employee is saying it may not be covered under AppleCare due to the extent of the damage.
