Best original Apple charging brick for fast charging | MacRumors Forums
As neither the iPhone 13 pro max nor the Apple Watch series 7 come with a “charging brick”/adapter, whatever you call it, in the box, I was wondering what charging adapter is required/recommended for fast charging. What’s the most optimal wattage for a charger for an iPhone 16 Pro? I’ve heard 45W is the max, but is that really the best? I’d be using some high quality 240w Anker cables. Is there really an appreciable difference in charging speed between a 20w and a 45w?

July 14, 2025 -
I have a 2019 Macbook air & iPhone 16 and i’m on the market for a dual USB C charger bc I lost my previous one (Anker 47W). But i’ll be honest I didn’t like how that one was too big & I’d prefer a compact charger. Is this Apple 35w a good choice? Is the charging speeds at least respectable?

Personally, I would get a higher than 35 watts. I’ve read when you have an MacBook and iPhone charging, each device gets 17.5 watts. That is pretty slow charging for your MacBook. If you connect a MacBook with say AirPods (or watch or other small accessory), you’ll get 27.5 and 7.5 respectively. You should be able to get a higher wattage anker or ugreen for about the same price (I just went through the same thing and I got a ugreen 100w with 3 usb c and 1 usb a port for $35 about a month ago). The Apple charger that you show is nice because it is quite compact and I would expect it to be very reliable. If you are ok with the slow charging rate for the macbook while you are charging your phone, then no real issues.

September 24, 2023 - We just purchased two new phones and have nothing to plug the cords into except for my iMac USB Power Adapter (which is huge and clunky). A dozen USB chargers in the lab: Apple is very good, but not quite the best
The Apple iPad power adapter is substantially larger[3] than the iPhone charger but provides twice the power. The HP TouchPad power charger has an unusual cylindrical shape. Next is a counterfeit iPhone charger, which appears identical to the real thing but only costs a couple dollars. In the upper right, the Monoprice iPhone charger has a 30-pin dock connector, not USB.
