Buy one from Apple if you don’t know how to assess an aftermarket charger. Avoid the 5-star weird-name “replacement” chargers. They’re garbage. See https://beetstech.com/blog/oem-magsafe-chargers-vs-counterfeits-teardown-for-truth

Replace with the same that came with your MacBook.

Hi all,
Just thought I would see what everyone chose re the charger and why, did you go with the dual 35w dual plu or the 70w.

The issue with the 35W is that it’s 35W in total so if you charge two devices at the same time it’s 17.5W each. The issue with the 70W is that it heats the battery leading to faster wear. Difficult choice.

It's 70W not 75. Unless you travel every now and then, I don't see any reason to get the dual port. Even if you have just one adapter, you can plug in another device to Mac's thunderbolt port to charge it serving the exact purpose of the dual port.

Use a power adapter with your Mac - Apple Support (CA)
October 21, 2025 - Third-party power adapters or displays should be compliant with applicable international and regional regulations and safety standards. For the best charging experience, you should use a power adapter or display that provides at least the minimum wattage of the power adapter recommended for your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.

I just got a macbook air m2 and so far i'm absolutely loving it. I chose the 35w compact charger to go with it and ideally i would like to have a 2nd charger so i can keep one at home and one on the go however i'm wondering if there is a huge difference between apple brand and third party chargers? Also do you think it's worth having a higher wattage charger or if i should stick with 35w. Also is there a difference between magsafe and usb c chargers? Is one better for your computer than the other?
Thanks

The Apple stuff aren’t worth the money, really. They all work via USB C now, so there’s nothing special about them, even if the head is MagSafe. If there’s any huge difference, it’s that you have smaller, more powerful chargers for lower prices. As long as it’s USB PD, and it’s 30W and above, you’re doing fine. Since the Apple chargers switched to USB C vs the USB A ones for iPads/iPhones and the integrated ones for Macs, I have never used the chargers that came in the box. I love my UGREEN chargers, they’re all super compact and they charge all my devices. For the size of a 30W Mac brick I have a 65W UGREEN 3 USB C 1 USB A charger. I then have an assortment of UGREEN single USB C and Anker 323s scattered around the house and in the office so I never have to actually carry them with me. As for higher wattage, I think that it can be worth it especially if it has more than one port. I think the M2 can address up to 60W (?) charging. The M1 can do up to around 40W. Higher wattage is great for charging faster if you need it, and extra ports mean you can still charge at 30W while charging something else if you don’t always need the extra fast charging.

I have the official one but I mainly use the Anker one because I’m anal about keeping the Apple one pristine and scratch-free lol. You can get a 65W 3rd-party charger from a reputable brand for not that expensive.
