What's the point of a desktop Mac these days, like the Mac Mini, Mac Studio, Mac Pro, or iMac?
It's cheaper than a macbook I don't have to think about the battery. I don't need the mobility. Mac mini is smaller than a macbook. I consume less power now than when i had a custom build (5700 XT). I have smaller power bill, no i don't Iive in a country with cheap power bill. Logic Pro runs on Mac mini. Edit: I actually brought my mac mini to my friend's house. He didn't have another amp for me to play with but he has extra sockets and speakers. So I brought my mac mini and audio interface and we played there, I used his speakers. Sounded fine. So yes, it is kinda mobile. It fit in my bass gigbag. More on reddit.com

Besides being cheaper than a MacBook, what advantages do desktop Macs even offer?
With desktop PCs running Windows or Linux, you get clear benefits like dedicated GPUs, better gaming performance, 3D modeling/rendering capabilities, and upgradability. But desktop Macs don't really excel in those areas. They lack dedicated GPUs, aren't great for gaming, and doesn't let you upgrade anything. Even the M-series chips, which are a big selling point for MacBooks, don't provide much of an advantage in a desktop setup since they're always plugged in.
Sure, you can upgrade the Mac Pro a bit, but it starts at $7,000—so it's out of reach for most people. So, what exactly is the appeal of a desktop Mac?
& It’s clear that desktop Mac sales are declining, and it's not hard to see why. In my opinion, Apple needs to introduce something revolutionary, like they did with Apple Silicon, but specifically designed for desktop Macs. Imagine an Apple Silicon GPU that could be marketed directly to gamers and 3D animators—this could breathe new life into the desktop Mac lineup.

The selling points are: you get macOS, some people want that (including me) instead of Windows/Linux you get a very robust setup. I don't know how many laptops I've broken, they are so fragile with their screen and keyboards requiring expensive repairs, and the constant need for hubs that break. In contrast, all my iMacs have never ever had a single issue.
