I heard from someone that Apple allows you to negotiate intern salary pay. Is this true? One of my other offers is paying $60+/hr and apple is $47/hr.
Should I try negotiating with recruiter thru email to get $50+/hr for apple?
Anyone know what they pay first time interns? Upperclassman if that helps!
What is the salary for a Software Engineer Intern at Apple per hour?
What is the salary for a Software Engineer Intern at Apple per month?
How does the salary as a Software Engineer Intern at Apple compare with the base salary range for this job?
I recently accepted an internship at Apple, located in SD and pay of $47/hr. I'm also in second-round interviews with Meta. Ideally, I want to intern at one company next summer, and do the other in an off-season term. However, both companies essentially aren't budging, only letting me intern during the summer. For me, the internship pay is not as important. I'm prioritizing return offer rates, name value on my resume, location (I'd prefer the Bay over SD), as well as TC as a new grad.
In my eyes, I see the pros of both companies as:
Apple - better return offer rates, better name value on resume (?)
Meta - better location, better new grad pay, tighter community with other new grads within Meta campus
In the case that I can only do one internship,
Should I continue interviewing with Meta? Or should I be content with Apple?
If it were you, which company would you choose to intern at, and why?
I currently hold an internship with Google, and there is a good chance that I will receive an internship offer from Apple. I do not know how to decide between the two of them and would like to gain some perspective from some others.
I really like both projects, and honestly feel so lucky to have the opportunity to work at either company. I know this is ultimately a question that only I can answer but I want to know if there is anything that I'm missing. Since the work is the same there are really only a couple of considerations that I would like to get clarified.
NOTE: I am not really concerned with my internship as much as I am looking forward to possibly taking a full time offer after the internship.
How do these two companies compete in compensation for software engineers full time?
How do work life cultures compare?
Is there a significant difference in the name of Google on my resume vs Apple? (I assume Google will hold more weight but is it significant?)
Apple is in California and Google is in Kirkland. I feel like this plays a huge factor since the costs of living are pretty different. I would prefer the sunny state but honestly if my financial situation is significantly better I could really get used to the Washington area. I love to ski and I love to play tennis.
Intern conversion rates. It is my understanding that as a Google intern I am filling a position that will become a full time position when the internship is over so I think there would be a high conversion rate. I'm not sure what Apple is like. This is important to me as I would like to hold a steady job going into my senior of college.
Any other sentiments that you might have about either company. I am really lost in this decision and any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am just trying to make a decision that will prevent me from kicking myself later down the road.
Compensation is important to me since I will have some hefty loans to pay off upon graduation so I am factoring that heavily into my decision. I understand that I shouldn't base my decision on this however I really have no preference on the projects. The location is also a big factor as one is clearly less expensive than the other but then again California has pretty awesome weather.
Thoughts? Even minor comments would be really appreciated. I won't take any of the advice on this thread to seriously.
TL;DR
Picking Google internship vs Apple internship what would you do any why?
let’s start off with who i am and why i set my sights on apple. i didn’t need to chase prestige but i wanted it apple’s the gold standard in tech and i thrive on challenges. plus, i’m not gonna lie the pay is high and that matters when you’ve got rents ramen and ambitions to cover.
my motivation
i remember scrolling through apple’s careers page late one night and thinking “that’s where i want to be.” it wasn’t just the logo or the salary it was the mindset apple moves fast demands excellence and solves problems no one else can. that pressure that pursuit of perfection was exactly what i needed to push myself.
my background
so could i just walk in and land a spot obviously not here’s what i stacked before even dreaming of Apple
Verizon internship: i cut my teeth working on real world telecom projects debugging networks collaborating with senior engineers and presenting findings to managers. that experience taught me how big companies operate and what they expect from interns
industry certification: i earned a recognized cert to prove i understood core concepts security protocols best practices. i won’t name drop but trust me it showed recruiters i could handle the technical rigor
side projects: i built a mini dashboard to track my freelance gigs and a simple chatbot that automated reminders for my study group. these weren’t flashy but they were deployed maintained and got real users
hackathon wins: i joined late night hackathons some 24 hour sprints some weekend marathons collaborated with designers pitched to judges and snagged a couple of top three finishes. that taught me rapid prototyping version control under pressure and how to pitch technical ideas in plain english
building my resume
i didn’t dump every experience onto a butchered PDF i treated my resume like a landing page
focused headline “CS @ <University> | Verizon Intern”
concise bullets each line started with a strong action verb “Developed” “Led” “Automated” and highlighted measurable results for example “Improved API response time by 20 percent” “Secured second place out of 30 teams”
tech stack section i only listed tools i could actually demo no fluff
project links every bullet that mentioned a project included a GitHub or live link so recruiters could click and verify in seconds
that’s how i went from “just another applicant” to “someone we need to talk to.” in part 2 we’ll dive into how i navigated apple’s interview process and the preparation that made me stand out.
if you’re chasing your own apple internship dream start by leveling up your background and crafting a resume that speaks louder than 100 generic applications.
TLDR: if you don't want to read all that, just go here and watch what I said, hope this helps someone.
I will be releasing a part 2 that goes deeper into what i actually did as this is quite generic in my opinion, but wanted to get up something to get you guys motivated!
Is it negotiable? It’s a bit low compared to other tech companies of a similar caliber.

Also anyone got a discord for Apple interns this summer?
Hey everyone! I've gotten an offer for a summer 2020 internship at Apple, but couldn't find much information about how people have felt about their time there. Can any former interns share anything about their experience there/company culture/intern program/perks/chance of a return offer and any other info that helped you when making a decision? Thank you!

salary (edit: hourly pay)
i’m returning to apple next summer as an intern
has anyone heard/have experience of salary negotiation for returning apple interns?
