How do I spot the difference between a genuine lightning cable and a fake lightning cable?
Does the charging adapter matter for iPhone if I use the original cable?

How important is it to use official (MFi?) cables for charging a USB-C iPhone 15 Pro? I’ve been told that for the lightning iPhones it was important to use a MFi cable to avoid overcharging your battery. I’m curious if USB-C wires have that same capability or if the charging settings to 80% achieve the same purpose.
Switching to an iPhone 15 has been life changing because my last phone had really poor battery life. I keep my phone for ~4 years so want to make sure I take care of the battery.
Thanks!
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that imho, anything claiming to be designed in "Califomia" is not a genuine Apple product :3
Apple's official article -- Identify counterfeit or uncertified Lightning connector accessories -- may help you confirm my suspicions.
For those not liking hidden links the full address of the Apple article above is https://support.apple.com/ht204566
Apple's guide is quite long and a detailed picture of the lightning connector should show the quality regardless of the color or font.
That being said, the fonts here show this as a fake. Notice the similarity between the rn in California and m in assembled. I'd have to see it in person but unless this is a really distorted picture, they are appear too similar to be a genuine cable.
This is a fake cable and OP should request a return. Apple has a habit of updating a list of unauthorised accessories with their software updates so that your non MiFi cable stops charging your phone without warning. Certain cables can be bricked by the phone so they no longer charge devices running lower iOS versions as well.
How do I spot a genuine and fake lightning cable? There are 3 lightning cables and I know for sure 1 of them is a fake ( it wasn't bought from the apple store) I've tried to find some sort of mismatch but all of them seem to look the same. The only ever difference I found was for 1 cable where the serial number, "Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China" followed by XXXXXXXXXXXX, 12 digit numbers. The beginning of the serial starts with F0 which was weird since the other 3 started with FC. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Edit: would also like to know, will charging your phone with the fake one for a day damage your phones battery? (heard if you charged your phone with a fake cable it will damage your phone)
