Did I buy an OEM original authentic genuine 2m lightning cable, or a high quality fake?
Yes, it's fake. You're trying to find the good to convince yourself it's real when a legit cable will have none of these issues out of the box, absolutely zero.

edit - Why are you contacting the seller? In no way do they state that it is an OEM / original cable.

Is the USB-C to Lightning 2m cable not as thick as regular Lightning 2m cable?
My USB-C to Lightning 2M cable from Apple (ordered directly from Apple Store) actually seems thicker than my 2M Lightning cable.
But my regular 2M cable is the one that came with the Apple Watch charging stand you can buy, so that could be why.

I'm trying to get more Apple original stuff in my store, so I recently purchased this cable. It just came in, and I'm noticing that it doesn't have "Designed By Apple In California" written on it anywhere. Yes, there is a tiny gap in the joint. However, the gold contacts are very smooth, and the width and length of the Apple 'boot' is consistent, it has a gray/metallic faceplate insert, the interlocks on USB shell are trapezoidal, the USB contacts are gold-plated, the USB surface is smooth and consistent, surface of USB shell is flat, and the surface of the insulator for the USB connection is uniform and flat.
I've emailed the seller, but I'm curious what everyone else's consensus is. Did I just purchase a high-quality fake?

My Anker Powerline stopped working properly two days ago, so I'm on the hunt for a new charging cable. I'm torn on whether to get another Anker or go for the Apple cable. I noticed that the Apple cable charged my smart battery case much faster than the Anker cord, which is why I'm considering the Apple cord as an option.
Anyone have the Apple 2m cord?
