Hi Everyone,
Bought a Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad. It has several blank FN keys (F5, F6, F13 to F19).
I have tried assigning actions to these keys going into System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > App Shortcuts.
For example, I would like F13 to open the calculator like my Logitech MX Keyboard does, or F14 to launch my Notion app. I go through that process in the App Shortcuts menu mentioned above, but either it does not work or I am doing it improperly.
Can anyone advise on how to make these FN keys do something helpful?

Karabiner will do this. There is a bit of a learning curve and nothing preconfigured so it will be you to trial and error the configurations.

System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > App Shortcuts is for adding/changing menu-item shortcuts for apps that are already in focus. Use the built in Shortcuts.app, or something like IcanHazShortcut or HotKey.app if you want to launch or shift focus to an application. In Shortcuts.app you'll add an "Open App" action, and then set the keyboard shortcut in the options you get when you click the "i" in a circle icon at the right of the title bar.

March 24, 2018 - Apply needs to figure out a solution and upgrade to where it allows us to either check or uncheck the box or add a way for us to add a shortcut to our keyboard where we can choose the F10, F11 and F12 keys to function for volume. I do have some tricks to make this less frustrating.
