Just want to share this piece since it has clear engineering details suggesting Apple's trying to silently flood the market with subsidized "good" gear to compensate for the "bad" gear we've seen recently. USB-C is Universal! So if you want to grab some cables, now's the time to do it. Also wanted to give props where props is due. You [likely!] need to use THIS "rectangular box" cable or better, not your existing Apple cables, to get full charging speed. [I don't own/can't afford one, so the in-store models are all I can test.] (Edit 2): Also please check your current Apple USB-C cords to see if they've been recalled. I remember when they had the cable from my 12" MacBook recalled. I called Apple, told them my cable stopped working, and they told me I could go in store and replace with a new one, no reservation needed. Drove an hour to the Apple Store, talked to an Apple employee, and they said I need to make an appointment for another day. Person in store couldn't just swap my charging cable out for me, even though there was a massive recall and the store wasn't even busy...completely ridiculous. More on reddit.com
