I switched to Apple Music last month after being a loyal Spotify Premium subscriber for nearly a decade since I was getting tired of waiting for Spotify to release their hi-fi tier.
The good:
Sound quality: Apple Music's native support for lossless audio and Dolby Atmos makes a big difference. Using my AirPods Pro 2, Dolby Atmos tracks sound noticeably more immersive and spacious. Overall music sounds much clearer than it was on Spotify.
Curated playlists: I never liked the curated playlists on Spotify but with Apple Music I've actually found myself coming back to a few of their editorial playlists.
Pricing: I was already paying separately for Apple Arcade, iCloud+ and Apple TV+, so I decided to upgrade to Apple One. I save a bit compared to before so no complaints here.
UI: I really enjoy the lyrics screen and the built in karaoke mode.
The not so good:
No Spotify connect equivalent: This is where Apple Music really falls short. I always took this feature for granted and didn't realise how not having it would make things quite inconvenient sometimes.
Lack of social features: I miss being able to create Blend playlists with friends, those were updated daily and I could discover what my friends were listening to daily. I also can't connect Apple Music to Discord so it's harder to share what I'm listening to with others.
For now I'm pretty happy with the switch and will probably stick around with Apple Music for a while.

No Spotify connect equivalent has been my biggest gripe but I find Apple Music to be better in many ways especially not having podcasts rammed down my throat at every turn

Apple Music has a Spotify-Connect-like feature when swiping down from the control center, then tapping the media tab, there’s a toggle on the bottom that says “control other devices” but the downside is that it’s usually apple products only available. Edit: you can use the feature with any devices with Airplay as stated by person below

Recent started a 3 month free trial of it and loads of the content is lossless in Dolby Atmos that objectively sounds better to me ... They are louder. The human brain interprets louder as better. Unless you are listening over wired headphones you will not hear the difference in bitrate, just turn off Spotifys audio normalization (which is on by default) nudge the volume up, and it’ll sound exactly the same.

Apple Music’s audio quality blows Spotify out of the water. Seriously. But Spotify’s algorithms are superior to AM’s. And then there’s Spotify connect. AM has nothing close to that.

spotify generally feels faster as an app and seems more cared for by artists—even smaller acts often have bios, so you know who you’re listening to. sound quality is the same on my airpods pro 2 and home speakers, though sometimes one service has a better master than the other. most artists master for spotify these days since it’s where most people listen, so sound quality isn’t a big issue. spotify connect is great for controlling music from any device, but airplay 2 on apple works well too. apple music has the better curation team, with top-notch editorial playlists, but spotify makes up for it with tons of user-created playlists. i prefer apple’s overall aesthetic, and their album descriptions add a nice touch. discovery is pretty even, though apple’s “discovery” radio feature gives it a slight edge lately. personally, spotify feels like home—like a messy room where you know where everything is. apple music, on the other hand, is like a well-designed museum. one big plus for me is last.fm integration, which spotify handles flawlessly in the background, while apple music requires a separate app. for now, spotify’s my preferred service, but that could change.
