Has anyone had any experience buying an Apple Pencil 1 from cex and did it work? I’ve bought two so far and both times they did not work when I got home and had to return, the batteries were drained in both cases.
Anyone had any that have worked?
So I am looking to sell my Apple Pencil 1st gen. I have the box and the accessories but the surface of the box has some scratches. What grading would this be?
The teams in stores and online are somewhat “silly” as i dont want to insult the good employees, Ive been given 2 apple pens, one bought online one bought in store.
Heres my situation. A man at a CEX location said “yes. The apple pen 2nd gen is compatible with the Ipad 10th gen.” I bought it on the spot and get home, its not compatible, do research, find out the 1st generation is compatible. But you need a USB-C converter, i buy the 1st gen after returning the 2nd generation. Turns out. The mint condition 1st gen is broken. I go to CEX again, the same man (who can be quite rude at times) tells me “yeah no so you need a different apple pen. 1st gen isn’t compatible.” Which is silly, apple themselves say it is, and if it isn’t why does it have instructions to pair to an iPad 10. Now after my 2nd apple pencil return im buying an apple pencil Usb-c edition. Can anyone tell me if im doing something wrong?? Ill give an update if that apple pencil doesn’t work either. Edit: for extra context. He googled things infront of me. I did alot of research, but clearly not enough, a lot of the research we did was with this man at CEX. Ill also add on i asked to try a different apple pencil 1st gen, he said “no. We wont do that, its not worth the time, buy the USB-C type.” Even though there are apple instructions for apple pencils to Apple ipad 10’s.
My context on the online teams. This is what she said when i asked about the 1st gen apple pencil.
“It guess compatible with 2nd generation apple pencil”
You're not doing anything wrong as you the customer have the right to ask questions and return products at your will.
However I also believe that whilst the staff should have told you the correct information we're all humans and get things wrong and can't be expected to know everything 100% of the time.
If it ended with yourself not being out of pocket for anything just the annoyance of back and forth I would say that that is acceptable sure it's far from ideal it's just one of those things.
Hopefully the new pen works and this can be finished with.
Good luck :)
When you go into a CEX and ask for information, the employee is googling it, which you can do yourself. Do your own research and go into a store knowing what you need to buy, unless they're management they're on minimum wage with no expertise or real training and management only get a bit more than that.
i have an apple pencil in basically perfect condition, but no box + an engraving. would the engraving make it c grade or does it not matter? additionally, if i buy a grade a apple pencil, is it possible it could arrive with an engraving?
