Podcast Subscription Not Working - Apple Community
I managed my subscription in the App Store, cancelling it, and there it told me that my subscription would remain active until expiring in February. So I should still have access! When I went back in the podcast app and tried to subscribe again, it let me, but still didn’t change to subscriber edition, and clicking the subscribe buttons again returns right to the “currently subscribed” message once more.

Hi, folks! I recently subscribed to Maintenance Phase’s “apple podcast subscription” because I wanted to support the show and get more episodes! However, some of these special episodes won’t play on my phone. For example, if click play, nothing happens; the podcast just appears to load without actually playing anything. The episodes appear to be downloaded as well! 😩
Has anyone else run into this issue? I’m sure it’s a problem on Apple’s end. It’s a bit frustrating because most of the podcasts will play, but a select few won’t (like Media Roundup! and The 2021 Grifties).

Yes, I have encountered this well with a couple of podcast subscriptions on different networks. It got so frustrating, I unsubscribed from a few. Sometimes it works to remove download, close podcasts, re-open and re-download the episode. Sometimes it doesn’t, and I have to sign out of iTunes and back in again. To me, it’s almost like it’s not recognizing that I have an active subscription. I haven’t found a permanent fix, but I am pretty sure it’s a problem with the app.

I’m having trouble listening to the most recent subscriber episode on Patreon, if that helps. It’s the bariatric surgery/mold grifter episode. I have an iPhone, and in the podcast app it suggests I join the Apple subscription thing and listen to the new episode, but it still isn’t showing up in my Patreon feed anywhere. 🤬🤬

The peacock app under my old login will not let me access subscription only material. When I clicked on the option to purchase, it says I have a subscription and tells me to manage it through Apple. The loop continues and I cannot access any content I want to watch. This is beyond frustrating. 707 2 ... The solution was to get the RSS feed link from Patreon and add to Podcasts via URL.

I just tried to listen to a podcast using the Apple Podcasts app for the first time since updating to iOS 18 (18.1) last week, and I’m getting ads despite having an active subscription - it’s not even showing me the subscriber edition. Anyone got any ideas what to try to do to fix it?
Edit: it fixed itself, so if it wasn’t working for you, try again, it might be ok.

Nope, not there, although there is an option to Subscribe to Podcast. Oh wait! - that's the option to subscribe to a (different) Podcast by using the Podcast URL, and nothing to do with the currently selected Podcast. ... Thanks again for the info. Glad you have it working for you now.

On all of my devices - iPhone 16P, iPad Air, Apple TV 4K, and MBP - podcasts are not downloading or playing subscriber episodes. It prompts me to subscribe and when I click that option it tells me I already am (which I knew but wondered what it would do), but shows aren’t indicating the Subscriber Edition and episodes are playing ads (when not supposed to). Anyone else having this issue?
Edit: fixed as of this morning (Nov 19).

I don’t have a solution, but I am having the exact same issue. Apple support didn’t have a solution. They only offered to cancel and refund my subscriptions and allow me to resubscribe after my refunds are processed.

Other than this issue, are you happy with the app? I switched to Overcast a few years ago, as I wasn't happy with the native app. But, maybe it's come a long way since then.
