No you cannot return it in the United States. https://www.apple.com/fr/legal/sales-support/sales-policies/retail_fr.html French: "Les produits peuvent être retournés, à vos frais, dans tout magasin du pays dans lequel ils ont été achetés à l'origine." English: "Products may be returned, at your expense, to any store in the country in which they were originally purchased." According to the Terms and Conditions in France, you may be able to ship it directly back to the Store, which is what I deciphered as "at your expense". I would call Apple and find out. r/applehelp on Reddit: Return iPhone purchased in France?
February 25, 2024 -

My fiancé had his phone stolen by a pick-pocketer while we were in France. He bought a new iPhone 14 at the Apple Store for the last two days of trip since he couldn’t be without one in a foreign country. We are now home in the US and he wants to use a 15 Pro Max his friend gave him. We’ve had the iPhone 14 he purchased in Paris a total of 4 days and would like to return it. From what I’ve read I don’t think we can return it to an Apple Store in the US—is this true, or is there some way we can return it via mail or otherwise?

r/macbookpro on Reddit: Is returning Apple products just a US thing?
April 26, 2025 -

Hey there

So I keep seeing posts here about people saying that they bought a Macbook, used it for a week, and then they changed it for another model or returned it altogether.

I have lived all my life in Europe (different countries) and I have never, ever seen an Apple policy other than “if the seal of the package is torn, you stick to the product you bought”. Which to be honest sucks, because these are very expensive devices and sometimes you do have to buy without being fully sure of your needs

So how are you all doing these swaps? Are these people all from the US, where some kind of law allows them to return opened products that work fine (aka, not returning them from being faulty)?

Edit: I know in the EU a regulation allows consumers to return products within a 14-day window. What I mean is that as far as I know that only includes products that have not been opened/used. Is there something I am misunderstanding? Can I buy a Macbook, use it for a week and return it?

Edit2: apparently you can and I’ve spent all my life not knowing?

r/iphone on Reddit: In your experience, will Apple Stores will accept returns for 30 days?
September 12, 2025 -

Spoke with an Apple customer service rep who said that an in-store purchase can be returned for up to 30 days with no issue and that every Apple Store would honor this.

I purchased an iPhone 16 Pro a couple weeks ago just to try out the smaller size before I decided which 17 Pro to order (been using the Max for years). I totally forgot that the phones are only available for pre-order at first though, so needed a little extra time on my current device. I’ll return it after I switch everything over from the new one.

Either way I’m fine because I have the recorded call confirming I’m good. Just curious about everyone else’s experience.
