You should be able to use your friend's education ID to make the purchase, but use your own Apple ID when setting up the iPad. iPads bought under the student discount program are the same as normal stock, they aren't locked to the ID of the student that bought them. More on reddit.com

Apple doesn’t offer student discounts/promos for iPhones anymore (used to get Beats headphones during the back to school promo). You’ll most likely get better discounts for signing up with a carrier during a promotion like Black Friday. For example, this past Black Friday Virgin Mobile was offering a new iPhone 13 between $20-$30/month for 2 years so ~$600 discount on a new activation.

Instead of going through a carrier, finance the phone through Apple directly and then use the Bring Your Own Phone deals to find a decent plan. I am currently paying just under $90/month for 40gb data. With $30 being for the phone itself. The good thing about this is that you can jump plans at any time

Hey there! I'm an illustrator, and I'm currently gearing up for PhD entrance exams after wrapping up my Masters. I freelance in proofreading and graphic design. Back in college, I couldn't really afford even student discounts, but now I've got some savings, and I'm eyeing an iPad in the next couple of months. I've decided to skip getting a Macbook from the Apple Store because retailers seem to have better deals. Plus, iPads come with free pencil, which is a fantastic bonus. I'm planning to take the EMI route to save my savings from taking a big hit.
Now, my buddy's in grad school, and they've got this college ID working great with Unidays. I used their info to check out the offer prices. Here's the thing – it looks like to order from the Apple Store online, you need to create an Apple ID, which neither of us has done yet. So, here are my questions: Can I make an Apple ID in my name, use it to order, and snag the offer using my friend's college details? Does it have to be a relative doing this, or does it work only if both the Apple ID and college ID belong to the same person (or a relative)? College mail ID is no good for creating an Apple ID since it expires when the course is over. So, we're technically talking about using two IDs. Any potential loopholes there?
Suppose I end up purchasing the product using my friend's Apple ID and college ID. How would that affect my ownership of the product? Can I switch over to my own Apple ID once I receive the order, or are there other hiccups down the road?
Dealbreaker question: Can I use my card to make the purchase after the discount with my friends ID right?
The discount I'm getting for the iPad Air 5 is a whopping 20K less than the market's lowest rate, and it comes with a free 2nd Gen Pencil(priced 10K). I'm definitely going for it. Just want to be clear on any other considerations beyond the price tag.
