r/appletv on Reddit: 'There was a problem loading this content' I am getting this error too frequently
May 14, 2024 -

Hey everyone,

I hope someone can shed some light into this issue. As mentioned in the title, the issue was never this frequent as it has become now in the past few weeks. I have the latest Apple TV box, and its up to date. What happens is that whenever I turn on the Apple box from standby mode, and I play any movie/series, and if I dare to forward or rewind it, it would immediately show me the buffering icon and return that error and afterward anything would just refuse to play on Apple app side of things (same error), while my other apps such as YT would continue to function normally. It happens 10/10 times.

The only solution thus far is to restart my Apple box, because nothing else works. So nowadays I have to turn on Apple box from standby and restart it each time if I want it to function properly. Any reasons why could this be happening or any better solutions? Is it an IOS based issue?

Important to note, I used to have this issue last year too, but not as frequent. Added to that issue, what used to happen was that whenever I would turn on my Apple box, the sound wouldn't play through my soundbar (quite often). I would have to restart my Apple box and power cycle the soundbar to get it working.

Someone was kind enough to offer a solution, that perhaps it was my HDMI cable being a bottleneck of sorts, as I was using the regular one between the Apple box and the 4k tv. So I got one those 8k super fast cables to address the issue, one of the highest rated with most reviews on Amazon. It did work at the time, and the issue seemingly disappeared. Now the sound issue does not happen this often these days, but this issue in title started happening each time I turn on Apple box now. It's quite annoying honestly given how much Apple tv is touted as being the best streaming box but I have had issues with it on regular basis with it.

I would sincerely appreciate any help in solving this issue. Thank you.

I had this problem today. I found the problem was the wireless router I was using. Yesterday added an Orbi Wireless Router with 2 Satellites to my existing AT&T internet to expand internet signal range. The Apple TV didn’t let me view iTunes content using the Orbi.

r/appletv on Reddit: "There's a problem loading this content."
July 21, 2021 -

For the last several nights we'll get this message when starting to watch a show or sometimes the show will stop and appear to be buffering and then throw this message. This has happened while watching AppleTV+ content as well as Paramount+.

I've restarted the AppleTV and sometimes it will work again once it reboots. Then it stops and throws the error again. Unplugging the AppleTV for a bit produces the same results.

I'm on WiFi behind an Eero Pro 6 and have been for the past year. The Wifi I rock solid. Tonight I updated to the latest TVos version in hopes this would be resolved. It wasn't.

I'm at a loss here. If I thought it was network related, I'd pop in a Cat6 cable and test that, but like I said, the WiFi is rock solid.

Interestingly, If I turn on the same show(s) using the AppleTV app on my MacBook, it appears to stream just fine with no errors.

Could this be a hardware problem? How do I troubleshoot that?

Re: Apple TV+ not working: Problem loading content | Roku Community
I also had the issue of Apple+ TV not playing 4K/HDR content via my Roku (4 Premier). I always got the message “Video is not available, try again in a moment”. Tried the uninstall/reinstall nonsense to no avail. I finally found the problem. I'm using an LG OLED TV and in the picture settings for the TV there is an option called "HDMI Ultra Deep HD Color".
