Ok first turn on your tv and Apple TV by hitting menu and wait until the white light is steady.Press and release the AV+ button on the lower left area of the TV remote over and over until HDMI shows as the input on screen.Next if you get a blank screen try this:Unplug both ends of your HDMI cable. Then firmly plug them back in.Turn off your TV. Unplug your Apple TV from power, then plug it back in. Turn your TV back on.For Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation), hold Menu and Up for five seconds then let go.After you let go of the buttons, your Apple TV will switch to a new resolution every 20 seconds. This will take a while since there are quite a few to try, but the ATV will try every resolution it can.You must wait for a resolution that causes the black screen to actually display something.Use the arrows to select OK then press the center button to set it to that resolution. Select Cancel to quit.Lets see if this resolves the issue.

December 26, 2023 -
My Apple TV 4K is connected to the HDMI 1 on my tv . Often, when I turn on both the Apple TV and the tv, the screen indicates that there is no signal from HDMI1. The only solution seems to be switching the TV's input source to HDMI 2 and then back to HDMI 1 ,At this moment, tv is displayed.. Sometimes this requires multiple switches. Is this an issue with my tv ? Since the HDMI 2 port is blocked by a wall, I can only use HDMI 1. I've tried changing the HDMI cable but it didn't help. thanks

I'm unplugging my Apple TV 4K for good - here's why
November 13, 2025 - Adding to the pile of problems is the fact that streaming apps randomly freeze or lag, the second generation Siri Remote disconnects, and in some cases, the Apple TV 4K drops its internet connection from my Nest Wifi Pro entirely, forcing me to manually reconnect to my home network (to be fair, I've had a few issues with Google's router over the past few years, though none have been related to connectivity). Even AirPlay 2 has been a bit of a mess, with videos often not casting to the Apple TV 4K from my iPhone 17 Pro.
