Good day, USB-C community! I have been purchasing used Apple USB-C charging bricks under the notion that they are of a MUCH higher quality than typical third-party chargers (including folks like Anker and Aukey). I have two of the Apple 96w chargers and they seem to work just fine... and I picked them up for a song. I have a colleague that thinks that's the Apple chargers are nothing special and that I'd be much better off purchasing one of the higher-end Anker charging bricks that have multiple ports.
What say you, community?

I'd say nothing special but less of a worry of one burning your house down. That being said, I tend to go w/ Anker as they are smaller, reliable, and have more ports. I'm not an expert, this is just my experience.

iPhone 17 is very picky about USB C cables?
No definitely not. Any cable I’ve used works. At home nearly all of mine are Anker though. Others I’ve used worked fine. Sounds like an issue with your 17 potentially or the cables of course. More on reddit.com

Issues with Apple USB C charging cable?
Check your charging port, it maybe the issue here and needs to be cleaned out. I would also check the power adapter and see if that guy has crapped out. You can also talk to apple and say your new cable is it working and ask for replacement if the issue isn’t fixed More on reddit.com

Upgraded last month from a 13. I had some type c cables already so I’ve been using them for charging. Got a couple brand new ones when I upgraded fast chargers. Only the cable that Apple provided with the 17 will reliably work both ways. I’ve never had this problem with any of these cables before. They are reversible with every other type c device I have. Has anyone else run into this?
Edit: Cleaning the contacts gently with a toothpick resolved this issue.

anyone else notice type c cables are like way more particular with iphones? my iphone 17 legit refuses half my cables but my friend's android takes anything.
