Hi, I made a post couple days back about getting a new macbook: https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/1kuajfc/which_chip_is_okay_for_next_5_years_for_a_macbook/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
If I want to connect my monitor to the laptop, I need to use USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter from Apple which is quite expensive. Does it matter if I use an offbrand Multiport adapter instead of the official one? Please let me know!
This may be the most useless port sold by Apple for $69…it doesn’t even do what’s written in the description. Do you use this port, if so what does it do? For $69, in the year of our lord 2025, a USB-C port should do something…
I got a spare HDD external hard drive that I use to move files from my laptop, I did connect my iPhone to my laptop and the external hard drive to move my photos and videos, but I needed another solution for this.
Tried connecting my iPhone directly to the external HDD, then when I reached the last step to move my photos to my external HDD, I couldn’t click the“Move” button since its gray (see photo 2 then top right)
So I searched more and found this video:

And I just need to buy the “USB C digital av multiport adapter apple” and a “powered USB hub” to finally do it (see picture 3 and the youtube link)
But should I get the “USB C digital av multiport adapter apple”, it is expensive. Or is there another brand of adapter and way for me to move my photos&videos from my iPhone 15+ to my external hard drive? (Not by laptop/pc)
Apologies if this is the wrong place to post/ ask but I'm looking for an adapter similar to the Apple Digital AV Multiport Adapter. I really like the form factor and the ports all face the opposite direction (works well with my layout/ setup) but the USB C input is charging only. Are there any dongles/ adapters out there similar to it (USB C, USB A, and HDMI) but the USB C is data instead of charging only?
I know there are adapters from brands like Anker, UGreen, etc, but they have ports going out in 3 directions, would be nice to just have the ports all on one direction (examples: Apple AV adapter, Belkin 4-port adapter).
