I had the same debate. Chose the S7 for the following reasons that I enjoy: bigger screen, faster charging, swipe to type keyboard. These make way more of a difference than I expected it to Answer from Lower-Tadpole7631 on reddit.com

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Upgrading Series 6 to 8 is Not Worth it
July 20, 2022 -

I just upgraded from the series 6 to the series 8 and am having buyers remorse. That’s a slight exaggeration since I love my Apple Watch and in no way would ever not have one, but after a few days with the 8 I don’t think it was worth the cost. Not sure if it’s an option l, but I think I would try to find a discounted 7 if I were to do it over.

The larger screen vs. the 6 is nice and the best part of the upgrade, but it’s not a massive difference. I hardly even notice sometimes. The new battery is obviously better, but that is comparing the 2 year old battery in the 6 to a brand new one in the 8. Other than that, I haven’t noticed any differences. I haven’t noticed a speed difference with anything I have done so far. I haven’t even found where to see the body temperature readings. I am a dude and it seemed like that was more of a thing for ovulation tracking though, so I might not be the target audience.

Does anyone else have any opinions on if the upgrade is worth it?

July 16, 2021 - Should have been called a Series 6s. ... The S models are typically an old design with new internals, whereas this is a new design with old internals. ... Yup. Alongside the iPhone 12s. At least the iPad mini was something new. ... People probably see that as inferior to a brand new model number now, so Apple doesn’t do this. ... The target market for Series 7 watches is not Series 6 owners.

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Is Series 7 worth an additional $113 over the Series 6?
March 30, 2021 -

Hello,

(113 cad = 88 usd)

I'm looking to get my first apple watch. I found a deal on a brand new Series 6 for 429 (Canadian). I can also get the Series 7 for 529 (Canadian). (Both GPS model) Budget isn't really an issue but I would prefer not to spend more than I need. Like I can spend the extra money but I can also find another use for it if I end up saving it.

So my question comes down to whether or not the Series 7 is worth the extra 88 USD over the Series 6. To those who currently have the 7 but had the 6, what features do you especially like about it? Is the extra screen/charging speed really that noticeable? Besides those 2 features are there any other ones that separate the 2?

Thank you for any advice.

Please feel free to vote in the poll.

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Is Apple Watch Series 6 is good enough?
September 6, 2023 -

I mean, 2023 almost end, series 9 is released already. But that's all I can afford right now.

I just diagnosed with a heart condition (currently medicated and doing really good, but) I think I need the health feature such as ECG, blood oxygen and stuff. Are they pretty accurate?

I don't mind the design. As long as it does it jobs and won't be broken or being extremely outdated for the next 3 years (would love 5 years but well that's good enough).

How is your experience as Apple Watch user with chronic illness or heart condition?

Thank you!

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Would a series 6 still be usable today?
August 29, 2024 -

I was an Apple Watch user from series 1 up until series 7 or so when I switched to Garmin.

Since late summer I feel like I have lost much of my will to be active and I’m just tired.

In my search for motivation I’ve been thinking about the Apple Watch rings and if trying to focus on filling them each day might help.

I’ve been looking at just picking up a new SE (to also get one of the nice looking Nike bands). But I just checked out the used market and saw that a used series 6 for example was about half the price of a new SE.

Is the series 6 still usable today? Would I be able to take advantage of the new watch os features for sleep and training load for example?

how bad would a 75% battery capacity be? The seller states that it still lasts for a day but I suspect that’s not if I do any workouts?

Edit: I picked up a series 7 with 83% battery for about the same price. Good to be back 😎

Apologies if there's already a thread like this- I couldn't find it.

I've decided to upgrade my old Fitbit and buy my first apple watch. I had been waiting to see what happens with Series 7. Are there any significant features that make it worth going with this model? If not, I would probably prefer series 6 since its price has been reduced.

Anything else I should be aware of getting an apple watch for the first time?

Thanks!

r/GalaxyWatch on Reddit: Should I Upgrade to Watch 6 Classic or Watch 7?
July 10, 2024 -

Hi everyone, I currently have the watch 4 classic since it's release 3 years ago and looking to upgrade. I mainly use it for activity tracking and as a fashion statement.

I'm torn because right now the watch 7 is $80 cheaper than the 6 classic with preorder deals (including trade in) but I'm more partial to the classic look and feel (I am open to trying the touch bezel on the 7).

Are there any features or specs on either model that would make you choose one over the other in this scenario?

EDIT: I decided to get the GW7. The pre order and trade in deals were too good I only paid $43 (!!) including tax to upgrade. Thanks to everyone that responded

I have the watch 6 Classic, you can ask me anything. Most people complain about the battery, but I charge it in the morning during my mourning routines. At first it felt clunky, but now I've got used to the weight. Edit: The one thing I personally am a little careful with, with my Classic is taking it to the beach. I've seen a few posts where people have explained their experiences with sand getting in between the bezel and causing damage to the internal rotating mechanism. There was one guy whose experience made me cringe, he explained how the sand had got lodged in and on rotating would make a scratching noise.

The watch 7 CPU is a huge upgrade in performance, in comparison it has 4xA55 cores for just the efficiency core and an A73 for the performance core whereas the Watch 6 is 2xA55s at a lower clock rate and they don't necessarily have efficiency modes to leverage the Hybrid Interface feature that WearOS 5.0 adds. The 3mm process and more transitors gates is going to result in quite a bit more power efficiency (closer components, less leakage current etc.) The sensors who knows but I imagine there's going to be quite some improvements there too with the larger photo sensors and more Leds at different wavelengths. That said yeah no physical bezel. IMO Watch 7 seems to be a much higher performance watch but loses the physical bezel so it's really up to yourself as to how important that is as a trade off for cost and performance. Watch 7 may have a better battery life as well even though it's higher performing as passively/background tasks should consume less power. To me the performance isn't too incremental, it's substantially large to the point I'm surprised they put the same SOC inside the Watch 7 and Ultra. Personally I went with the Watch 7. I am coming from Garmin so I have no real reference for the physical bezel anyhow as I never had one on my Fenix 7

As the title says I just bought a 41mm Apple Watch 7 with 93% battery. It’s my first Apple watch and bought it to dip my toes into the water to see if I like Apple Watches. What are everyone’s thoughts? Is it still a decent watch? And how many years can I expect to get out of it?

Thanks.

March 26, 2021 - The screen increase on the Series 7 is certainly nice, but is hardly the same as the redesign from the Series 3 to 4. Most reviewers have been pretty spot on when they called this a "6s" watch...most things are the same besides the modest increase ...

Dear Redditors of r/AppleWatch, please I need your help in deciding which one of them I should buy.

I am quite not sure right know and so I wanted to ask you if you maybe could have help me with your experience from everyday life.

Is everything from Watch 6 series included in Watch 7 series, like EGC, oxygen measurement, etc. ? Exist differences in battery life?

Many thanks 🙏🏻

I just got my first AW and had the same dilemma. Went for the 7 in the end. Very happy with it and love the qwerty. The fast charge is amazing - I can put it on charge whilst brushing my teeth and by the time I’m done there’s easily enough charge to last the night. You do need the fast charge plug though

I compared for weeks from 5, 6, se or a 7. First time Apple Watch owner and I felt the 6 offered enough. The 6 was superior for me over the 5 and se for the sensor and monitors for health and the 6 is only 1 year old design at that point. So that made the 6 win that and go up against the 7 next for me.

Nothing major except screen size/brightness, faster charging and the keyboard that’s diff from 6 to 7 for me. The biggest thing that almost pulled me from a 6 to a 7 was the contour face that’s only series 7. I would like the keyboard but the screen is so small the voice to text option has been awesome! Can fix a few letters easy so full keyboard was not needed for me yet, or the brighter screen or faster charging since those don’t matter. I keep screen light low anyway and don’t need fast charging.

Lastly I stalked eBay for a long time to find a great deal on a brand new 6 that was NOT a open box or used from a weird retailer or anything like that. I was pretty particular about it and wanted a certain model color and size and condition. Eventually I found it for such a great deal that was the final straw that killed my thoughts on the 7.

TLDR: get the best highest model you need and don’t let 1mm screen size change all your judgments or let you justify spending a few hundred more. If you get a good one it will have great trade in if that 1mm seems like something your missing on.

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: What to choose? Apple Series 7 vs 6 vs 5 vs SE (Budget)
January 10, 2021 -

So I'm planning a late Christmas gift for my mom and She's been eyeing to pair up her iPhone with an Apple watch. I've been saving up for a year so I have approximately 500 USD (if converted).

I'm entirely new between the Apple Watch models so I don't really know what to choose? So please help me ;-;

Here are my questions:

What is the best model budget wise?

Is it worth it to buy the series 7? does the added dollars worth it?

Are the newer series have a noticable to the older series to choose it from the latter?

Thank you all so much guys!
