I know you won’t like this answer but I would just consider gifting it away if it was my family. Yes, it’s still worth about $100-150 if in good condition, but in a few months it will probably lose software support (just a speculation based on the past) and even though the watch will remain fully functional until any hardware issue occurs first, it will still become an obsolete device. It’s about the same if you had an iPhone 7-8 to give away, however battery replacement is much easier for phones, and it’s almost always a fail when back-alley repair shops do it for the watch. You simply can’t predict how much the watch has left hardware-wise, I would not feel good about asking $100 from a family member and then the watch just dies in 6 months time. How’s battery health? How far the watch is from a full replacement from Apple for the basic battery service fee? Any buyer who knows about this would consider/calculate this in addition to the asking price. You give it to an electronics recycler, and buy a new watch. Even if you can get the parts and have the skill to actually do the repair (most don’t) it will cost you far more than what a seven year old watch is worth. Which is essentially zero. More on reddit.com
