Series 7 is 100% worth the 100 bucks, a nicer looking screen, on screen keyboard and 1 more year of software update. And in your case, the bands are a welcome bonus. Answer from Electronic-Crew2115 on reddit.com

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Series 6 vs Series 7
January 10, 2021 -

Apologies if there's already a thread like this- I couldn't find it.

I've decided to upgrade my old Fitbit and buy my first apple watch. I had been waiting to see what happens with Series 7. Are there any significant features that make it worth going with this model? If not, I would probably prefer series 6 since its price has been reduced.

Anything else I should be aware of getting an apple watch for the first time?

Thanks!

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: What to choose? Apple Series 7 vs 6 vs 5 vs SE (Budget)
January 14, 2021 -

So I'm planning a late Christmas gift for my mom and She's been eyeing to pair up her iPhone with an Apple watch. I've been saving up for a year so I have approximately 500 USD (if converted).

I'm entirely new between the Apple Watch models so I don't really know what to choose? So please help me ;-;

Here are my questions:

What is the best model budget wise?

Is it worth it to buy the series 7? does the added dollars worth it?

Are the newer series have a noticable to the older series to choose it from the latter?

Thank you all so much guys!

Dear Redditors of r/AppleWatch, please I need your help in deciding which one of them I should buy.

I am quite not sure right know and so I wanted to ask you if you maybe could have help me with your experience from everyday life.

Is everything from Watch 6 series included in Watch 7 series, like EGC, oxygen measurement, etc. ? Exist differences in battery life?

Many thanks 🙏🏻

I just got my first AW and had the same dilemma. Went for the 7 in the end. Very happy with it and love the qwerty. The fast charge is amazing - I can put it on charge whilst brushing my teeth and by the time I’m done there’s easily enough charge to last the night. You do need the fast charge plug though

I compared for weeks from 5, 6, se or a 7. First time Apple Watch owner and I felt the 6 offered enough. The 6 was superior for me over the 5 and se for the sensor and monitors for health and the 6 is only 1 year old design at that point. So that made the 6 win that and go up against the 7 next for me.

Nothing major except screen size/brightness, faster charging and the keyboard that’s diff from 6 to 7 for me. The biggest thing that almost pulled me from a 6 to a 7 was the contour face that’s only series 7. I would like the keyboard but the screen is so small the voice to text option has been awesome! Can fix a few letters easy so full keyboard was not needed for me yet, or the brighter screen or faster charging since those don’t matter. I keep screen light low anyway and don’t need fast charging.

Lastly I stalked eBay for a long time to find a great deal on a brand new 6 that was NOT a open box or used from a weird retailer or anything like that. I was pretty particular about it and wanted a certain model color and size and condition. Eventually I found it for such a great deal that was the final straw that killed my thoughts on the 7.

TLDR: get the best highest model you need and don’t let 1mm screen size change all your judgments or let you justify spending a few hundred more. If you get a good one it will have great trade in if that 1mm seems like something your missing on.

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Is Series 7 worth an additional $113 over the Series 6?
April 3, 2021 -

Hello,

(113 cad = 88 usd)

I'm looking to get my first apple watch. I found a deal on a brand new Series 6 for 429 (Canadian). I can also get the Series 7 for 529 (Canadian). (Both GPS model) Budget isn't really an issue but I would prefer not to spend more than I need. Like I can spend the extra money but I can also find another use for it if I end up saving it.

So my question comes down to whether or not the Series 7 is worth the extra 88 USD over the Series 6. To those who currently have the 7 but had the 6, what features do you especially like about it? Is the extra screen/charging speed really that noticeable? Besides those 2 features are there any other ones that separate the 2?

Thank you for any advice.

Please feel free to vote in the poll.

As the title says I just bought a 41mm Apple Watch 7 with 93% battery. It’s my first Apple watch and bought it to dip my toes into the water to see if I like Apple Watches. What are everyone’s thoughts? Is it still a decent watch? And how many years can I expect to get out of it?

Thanks.

r/GalaxyWatch on Reddit: Going from Apple Watch Series 7 to Galaxy Watch 6
April 30, 2023 -

Hi all,

I’ve just sold my iPhone 13 Mini and are now deciding between getting the iPhone 15 Pro or going with the Flip 5.

The Flip series of phones have always intrigued me and since they now give you the Galaxy Watch 6 with your phone it pushes me even closer since I wouldn’t want to ditch a smart watch, being so used to my Apple Watch.

I hear a lot of people saying the Apple Watch is the superior product which it might be. I only use it for notifications, controlling Spotify and checking the weather though. If that’s all I want from the watch, would it really be such a big difference?

And how is the 44mm model size wise? The bigger Apple Watch looks great on my wrist, but I’m thinking maybe the round shape would make the watch look even bigger?

Would appreciate any insight.

October 15, 2021 - Looks like Apple made the border smaller and the edges and corners rounded to give it the appearance of having a bigger screen. ... I have a series 6 44mm and I pre-ordered a 41mm and went to get it this morning thinking it would be a better size but it still seems very small , ima go get a 45 and see which is better

Series 7 or SE? : r/AppleWatch
January 13, 2021 - Im planning on getting an Apple Watch but looking for some advice. I’m only 14 so most of the time I won’t rely too heavily on the watch so I’m wondering whether to get the Series 7 or SE as the cost of the 7 is a lot higher and I’m simply wondering if it’s worth it.

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Is Apple Watch Series 6 is good enough?
September 9, 2023 -

I mean, 2023 almost end, series 9 is released already. But that's all I can afford right now.

I just diagnosed with a heart condition (currently medicated and doing really good, but) I think I need the health feature such as ECG, blood oxygen and stuff. Are they pretty accurate?

I don't mind the design. As long as it does it jobs and won't be broken or being extremely outdated for the next 3 years (would love 5 years but well that's good enough).

How is your experience as Apple Watch user with chronic illness or heart condition?

Thank you!

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Series 7
March 27, 2025 -

Hi,

I have an Apple Watch series 7 since December 2021. In all honesty, it does everything I need. The apps, sensors, functions are all perfect for me. I don’t find the Ultra or Series 10 to be compelling upgrades for me, and the SE2 seems like a downgrade. My only problem is that the battery on my S7 is failing - I can’t wear it to bed anymore and I have to charge it as soon as I get home from work

My options are

  1. Get the battery replaced. Depending on the cost of this, I might be better off upgrading the watch.

  2. Upgrade the watch. As I alluded earlier, I have no interest in the S10 or Ultra. If I were to upgrade I would probably buy a Series 8 or Series 9 - what is the best place to buy those? Apple doesn’t sell them. Preferably looking for a place I can trade in my S7

Anyone who has upgraded their watch in a budget-conscious manner, please share your experience

Not sure where you're from but I recently was in the same dilemma with my series 6 in India. Seeing the WWDC announcement that Series 6 is supported by WatchOS 26 for another year at least, I went to the Apple store and got my watch battery replaced. Effectively they replaced my unit with a new unit. For watch they don't replace the battery, the whole unit is replaced with a new or refurbished unit. Now I have a new watch series 6 with zero scratches / dents and 100% (+) battery. It lasts almost 2x of what my older degraded battery gave (at 70% battery capacity). Your Series 7 if replaced will work for another 2 years at least with full OS support. Also beyond that the watch continues to work very well, just no OS update. As such with gimmicky features Apple adds each year unless a new sensor comes in which is truly ground breaking, the watch is not a few years upgrade proposition. Here in India, I got my watch replaced for about 1.5x of the cost my old unit was yielding if I sold it back to apple in store. But now that I have a new piece with 100% battery if I choose to re-sell this watch I will still get back roughly at par. Hence I chose to replace the battery (and thus the unit). Given this is now a basically new watch you can possibly use this in future as a standby watch too. Say you get the Ultra or Series 12/13 etc. that can be daily driver and this a nightly driver, since as long as iOS supports pairing the device it is not non-functional.

Note that any refurbished model you get as part of a battery replacement will very likely have the oxygen sensor disabled, due to that ongoing patent case.
