So I was really torn between the series 8 and the ultra. Went to att and they only had the series 8. I had previously tried the ultra on, while I could pull it off it is huge. I’ve been using my series 8 after coming from a first gen se and it’s an incredible watch. I feel most people would be more than fine but are just giving apple extra money for the ultra. I’ve been using it for 3 months and I really love it. Great battery life, bright screen, great size.

It’s down to personal choice/preference and folks finances. For me the ultra is a no brainer. I love only charging my watch every other day. I don’t want the stainless steel body the titanium is more durable. I’m middle aged and when I walk/exercise at night I can’t read all of the info on the display without my reading glasses with a smaller watch. The ultra is just big enough that I don’t need to use my reading glasses to see everything. Those are some of the things that are important to me. They are obviously not going to apply to everyone. And other folks almost certainly have other reasons they prefer the ultra. You prefer the 8 and that’s great. I honestly think that for a lot of folks the 8 might be better. I don’t know the sales figures but I expect the 8 to outsell the ultra. If the 8 had a titanium option it would have been a slightly harder decision for me.
