The "shortcut" is when you just have to press the "dial"-button twice and BOOM, you pay.
But for me, I have to press the "dial"-button twice and then double-click the button below the dial to pay (a little notice pops up that says, "Double Click to Pay").

I just received my AW as a gift a few days ago, and I'm LOVING it so far! The only hiccup I can find right now is that there doesn't seem to be a shortcut I can find to quickly access the wallet of all my cards. I know you can do this quickly on iPhone by double-tapping the home button when the phone is on standby. Is there anything like this for AW?
