Yes, jus to go the .cfg file in your installation folder and open it with notepad, there should be an option to disable channels entirely. But honestly, i wouldn't reccomend doing it. Heya!

So I tried the obvious config, but whatever mod is used to modify recipes throws an error and does not process the rest of the file (resulting in many default recipes and breaking the pack).

I'm thinking getting into the recipe mod and replacing the controller with something else.... would that be enough?

Any other "cleaner" way?

EDIT: For now, I've removed references to the controller from the scripts folder, for avaritia, modularmachinery and ae2 itself, and seems to work fine. Hope I don't encounter bad stuff down the line. Still looking for a cleaner way if there is any.

Disabling the channels also removes any items from the mod which only make sense in the light of channels. Smart cables and dense cables are removed from having crafting recipes, because they don't matter anymore. Probably other stuff, too. In E2:E, that breaks other recipes added by the modpack that use smart cables and other stuff in their recipes. You'll need to go into the appropriate config file and change all the recipes that call for disabled content and change them to use some other items which you feel are balanced in cost to the items you're removing. (or whatever. I don't care if you replace them with dirt; you do you.) Or play the non-expert mode, and when you change the config from AE2, I don't believe there's a major problem because the recipe changes that are causing the conflicts are only in Expert mode. EDIT: or add RS to your modpack and primarily use that, but leave AE2 alone for the recipes you need.

I'm not a total expert but in a pack like this AE2 just adds another layer of complexity that I don't need, normally I would just add Refined Storage and Reborn Storage for the multi crafter, and just build any AE2 thing required for a quest line, but for some reason I'm unable to form the multi block and refined is all wonky, this packs are becoming so complex that they are catering for just a few very hardcore players. And the non Expert pack is just a joke, I would have also liked the option of AE2 W/O the channels, keep all the complex recipes and uber nested recipes, and quest lines, many of us are not System Collapse or Fikibreaker, or Hypno and if you think Dyrewire is bad in his play-through you should see mine lol. Unfortunately I don't know how to modify a script to change recipes that require something that will be deleted if you turn off the channels. I don't want to abandon this pack because is a fantastic pack and you can learn so much from it. . . but dear goodness the channel thing can bite me! If anyone has an easy solution for this . . .please share, I thought about going to the mod author and begging for a solution but I don't know how to do that properly.

August 20, 2015 - To make it more balanced - you can't actually use cables to transfer channels from it - you have to use a memory card - and connect it to a new wireless receiver block that can transfer channels, but also requires nether star to make. That way you have a lot less wires in your base, and subnetworks are not actually subnetworks but extensions of main network.

Hi there. I'm playing All The Mods 6 with my boyfriend over LAN connection, and I'd like to know if/how to disable AE2's channels in more recent modpacks.

My current issue is this: I like Refined Storage and am using it currently, but it's starting to lag up his laptop real bad whenever he enters the area. I'm assuming AE2 is going to be less laggy, but trying to work out the channels system just... doesn't work for me, messing with channels makes me cry real live tears of frustration. So I've always just done as Sky Factory 4 has and turned them off. But I can't seem to find that option in the AE2 configs now, is there a way I can write it in to "false" somewhere and get on with upgrading my system?
