Context about situation:

I have been struggling for a few months now, doing anything i can to keep myself ahead of all the bills. (TLDR: fiance lost their job and we have been on one income which is not enough to reliably pay all bills. They have recently gotten a job but will take time to catch up with checks). Everything seems to be hitting now at the same time from pushing back anything i can for as long as possible and i have quite a few bills that have to be paid within the week or face getting services cut. (I have checked my area for assistance programs but most of them are out of funding or require us to already have services cut before they can help).

Main question:

I heard about some sites that help with bills like Deferit, but i know sometimes those sites can form bad habits or might have predatory or hidden fees. So i'm wondering if sites like Deferit are legit and useful or will it just cause me to get into an even bigger hole later on? Should they be used at all and/or should i use it just for one or two small bills.
