Has anyone bought the update Kyanite Jacket within the last 6 months? Is the quality that terrible (pilling after first wash, etc)? Growing impatient for them to release the lightweight version but also don’t want to buy a $180 jacket that is equivalent to Target clothing in quality. Any reviews or personal experience would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
I am thinking of buying Kyanite Jacket (no hood) but in Arcteryx website it has really bad reviews. Almost every new review is bad and complaining about worse quality of material in current version and about instant pilling.
Is current version of Kyanite really that bad and it is better to skip it?

Has anyone tried out the revised version of the Kyanite Fleece Jacket? And if so, do you think it’s a worthwhile product for being a mid layer for resort skiing??
Thank you!
An ex employee has been saying how the kyanite line is the biggest offender of the lululemon execs taking over the brand and focusing on low quality and high markups. Wondering everyone’s experience with the fleeces, I was interested because I wanted a form fitting comfortable light jacket to wear at work and in the city everyday. I’m more interested in the athletic look and high quality aspect since I can’t walk around OCT-NOV with a sleeveless shirt and I heard the kyanite Lt feels like wearing nothing. Is the Arenite as form fitting and comfortable as the kyanite LT? The Arenite was around before the quality drop happened. Which one should I go for if the kyanite line is decent?
I just picked up the new Kyanite Jacket (formerly AR) in Pytheas. Pretty similar to the last version except the Collar and Zips are now in a slight contrast in a lighter shade of the same color. There is also no longer a horizontal seam across the lower chest. It feels just slightly thicker than my 2020 and 2021 Kyanite but it's hard to say if that's just in my head. Similar trim cut and length. I'm tall and want the kyanites to be slightly longer in the waist but it's not a deal breaker for me as the sleeves are perfect (I have a big ape index) Similar stretchy comfort.
I prefer the older collar style as I exclusively use my Kyanite Jackets for casual/work use but I still think this is the best casual fleece in the game, if you can stomach the price.
Edit: After picking up a Sawyer in Boxcar, the lighter color of the collar and zipper seams appears to be the Boxcar color as well.

I splurged on a Kyanite Jacket from Arc’teryx which was my first product from this brand. I went skiing for a week in Italy and I wore it everyday under a hard shall. The piling started on the first day. Here is what it looks like after 5 days of wearing it.
Is that expected?
Hi everyone! I recently picked up a beta jacket (for a great price through rebird) and now I am exploring mid layer options. I already have a Kyanite zip up, and I was wondering if I paired that with a warm base layer shirt, is that enough warmth under my beta jacket for skiing winter in Colorado and Utah? Obviously I know there are outlier days in both directions of temperature, but in general, will this be sufficient?
I recently purchased another Kyanite jacket. First one in SM and needed to go up a size. So I waited and got the Kyanite AR. Upon receiving it I noticed the internal pocket is removed, the zipper seems cheaper and the jersey style lining for the pockets is much more stiff and not as soft. Curious if people will weigh in on these decisions? The older jackets seems much more sturdy and warmer. Is this a move Arcteryx is moving to, as I also recently noticed the Beta LT was downgraded in Gore-Tex material and the internal pocket removed as well.
The newer non merino ones. If so could you describe the weight(light mid heavy) and subjective thoughts on warmth. If commenting on the warmth can you mention if you get cold easy or can ski in shorts in Febuary in Montana. Do they pill as much as much as the new jackets. Do they retain odor like the Rho base pants or Patagonia Nano air light. Any thoughts on fit to layer underneath over top. My favorite piece might be my 2018 Kyanite fleece zip hoodie there isn't really any info out there on the sweatpants.
I want to wear them primarily as a midlayer for skiing, cool weather outdoor adventures(with possibly gamma pants over top).
After much debate about wanting to purchase myself a nicer fleece hoody the 20% sale on Arcteryx webpage pushed me to finally just do it, i ordered a fortrez and a kyanite, and returned the fortrez. The kyanite is one of the comfiest, coziest pieces of clothing i have ever owned. Its so soft inside, nice and warm without being too warm, you can easily wear it inside without over heating. Outside up to about 5c its good enough if you are moving amd there is light /no wind. Seriously, get yourself one.
I noticed this one is made of fleece on both sides. Based on my research, it appears the inner side is brushed fleece while the outer side is from the same material but not brushed. Regardless, I saw people complaining Delta being a pilling and lint supermagnet. How does Kyanite Lightweight do in this department?
I’ve been eyeing the Kyanite LT jacket for some time and would like to layer it under my proton for colder months. Unfortunately I have seen it as out of stock for weeks on the Canadian site. Any idea if it’ll be back any time soon?
I’m an XS and there’s zero stock right now. Only size with good stock is XL.
I see the new Kyanite jacket, former the AR, has plenty of inventory.
Did arc already switch to the thicker jacket for winter? Don’t think I need such a thick fleece as I will also layer a beta lightweight on top of everything when it’s rainy or cold and I think the 3 items will give me killer combos.
The new Kyanite is terrible compared to the older Kyanite AR and original Kyanite. Had to return it. It's very short and boxy. The collar is odd with some of the interior material now showing on the outside, and the laminated pocks cause bunching in the midsection. Why a fleece needs laminated pockets is still a mystery to me.
I also returned the Kyanite LT as it's really more of a "track jacket/yoga jacket" instead of a fleece. I couldn't determine a use for it.
Maybe consider the Patagonia R1 hoody. I like it as base/mid layer.
Edit: So I didn't flair this because I'm not strictly discussing the Kyanite LT in either a technical or casual context, perhaps a 'Discussion' tag would be appropriate in the future?
I think Arc nailed this one.
The regular Kyanite is like being hugged by a burly teddy bear. It's one of the most comfortable fleece I've ever worn and not to mention easily one of the warmest. I was unsure how the Kyanite LT would play out in person, but I'm grateful I decided to give it a go.
If the Kyanite is this thick, plush blanket of a fleece, the Kyanite LT is more of a thin, stretchy, matte almost sort of track jacket. It has a hint of that same plushness on the interior, but is significantly less warm and, IMO, significantly better looking as outerwear.
Due to the stretchiness, this is a great one to size down if your usual Arc size runs slightly big (as XL does on me, where L is normally slightly too small).
I picked up the XL jacket in black for work, and a L Cryptochrome hoody for layering / outdoor use.
Can't recommend this fleece enough, I really feel they knocked it out of the park. Again, don't expect warmth - it's less warm than a Delta LT from the limited time I've had to wear mine. But it's perfect for warmer temperatures and will be fantastic as a light layering piece under a shell.
Anyone else grab one of these yet? What do you guys think?
I molested one in REI a couple weeks ago and loved it. Perfect weight fleece for me, as I tend to run quite warm.
I find it very comfortable as well, but it's the most fragile Arc piece in my collection. I took it backpacking on a 14mi 3 day trip when I first got it, and by the end I had a significant amount of pilling from the backpack straps. To Arc's credit, they did warranty it. After that happened I bought a Fortrez for outdoor use and have retired the new Kyanite strictly for casual use. Even still, I've got a bit of pilling just from wearing the seatbelt in my car.. I've accepted the Kyanite won't remain in like new condition with normal use, unlike the other gear I'm used to. Only other thing that bugs me a bit is it tends to be a lint magnet. Still an overall great piece, but I think they could improve on it.
Hey there, I already have too many jackets and vests etc… but I am looking for a piece of layering - anyone out there have the new kyanite AR hoodie or jacket? I am also thinking about a merino wool item - a brand called WOOLX has caught my eye - and I like the smartwool jacket - I know I’m throwing a lot out there but I’d like to hear about that kyanite product - I already have an Atom AR hoodie and the Atom LT VEST …
I love my AR hoody. I'm assuming the LT is the same thing, but less warm and more packable?
The outlet has one in a very visible color which is good for hiking. I'm wondering if there's a role for this in my pack? I have a few Delta LT, and I'm wondering if the lighter Kyanite would be redundant? The AR is surprisingly good at blocking wind so I'm wondering if Kyanite LT is for times when I would use a Delta LT plus wind shirt? Or other times?
How do you use yours? Do you like it? Would you buy it again?
I have the Adahy hoodie which Kyanite LT replaced. I’ve worn it so much over the years that I recently purchased a Kyanite LT. What I like about it is how light and stretchy it is (even more so than the AR). And for the weight, it is surprisingly warm! I would say the Kyanite LT is slightly warmer than Delta LT, and it’s definitely more comfortable to wear. It’s also great for traveling bc it packs down so small.
I wouldn’t say Adahy or Kyanite LT is a “necessity” but it’s more “nice to have”. I get a lot of use out of them but I wear them casually for the most part. For hiking, I tend to bring Atom SL (I’m sure Adahy or Kyanite LT would be fine too).
Wasn’t a big fan of the LT or last years AR. LOve this years new Kyanite AR Tech Wool hoody. It’s a great improvement.
Looking at getting a new fleece and have narrowed it down to two Arc numbers - the Kyanite Lightweight and the Delta.
I want full zip and for it to be wearable for both hiking and possibly climbing from around March til winter in the UK, but also want it for site visits with work which is a lot more standing around.
I’m aware the Delta is more of an ‘active’ layer in terms of stretch but more concerned about temps.
I guess the easiest way to figure it out is by asking those who have them, what kind of temperature range they’d be happy doing the above in?
I can also of course layer up with it, but I’d like to know how they fare on their own with just a base.
Would love to hear from owners of both these pieces and let me know if they had to choose one, which would it be? They're priced both at $180 USD and seem fairly similar. Is one more comfortable? Warmer? General use case would be a quick jacket to throw on when walking to the grocery store, going out for dinner, or as a base layer for hiking/skiing
I am in need of a lightweight fleece vest that will be a layer. I'd like it to be as light as possible as I run hot, live with a mild winter climate, and do a lot of high-output exercise in the colder months.
I've been planning to buy a Kyanite vest, but I'm thinking I would be better off with a lighter option. It there were a Kyanite LT vest or Delta LT vest, that would be perfect. Are there any offerings from other manufacturers that might fit the bill? I like the style, fit, and quality from Arc'teryx, so that's my first choice. However, I think the standard-weight Kyanite vest will be a little too warm for my intentions. I trust the opinions and insights of those in this sub, so I figured I would post in hopes someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!
