This might be an unpopular opinion, but I absolutely love Kyanite. The Coverts are too stiff (particularly around the collar) and pill pretty easily. However, the Kyanite drapes better and consequently feels better. Is it durable? It probably won't last ten years given the high elastane content, but my Kyanite pieces still look new after heavy usage. In the meantime, they're one of my favorite go-to items for urban use. I don't have personal knowledge of how Kyanite compares to Arenite, but Kyanite has a fair amount of nylon and Arenite has none--so that might mean Kyanite would actually be more durable. Is Kyanite really that low of quality?

March 30, 2019The Kyanite LT: A more casual fleece or solid, lighter weight, technical option?
I own the Kyanite hoody, an R1 hoody, Fortrez and 3 Kyanite LTs so here's my 2cents. The kyanite lt is super lightweight for a fleece. It's my most versatile piece for 3 seasons in the southeast US. I have worn it with just a tee shirt up to about 63F before i started getting too warm (its usually 60+% humidity where I am). I love it so much i bought 2 more after the first one. It is very trim fitting. You're not going to get anymore than a baselayer on under it if you stick with your true size. As far as looks - it is actually pretty casual looking, but because of the cut, think of it more like a training hoody. It looks good in town or out on the trails. In comparison, my R1 is a 3/4 zip with thumbholes and a chest pocket along with no side zips, and a long cut. Much more technical look. My fortrez is technical looking and a slightly warmer than my r1, probably because of the face fabric. I wear it both in town and on trail but the cut is not as trim as the R1 so it does pretty well at both. Still less technical than my R1. Warmth (IMO): Kyanite > Fortrez > R1 > Kyanite LT Technical Look: R1 > Fortrez > Kyanite LT > Kyanite More on reddit.com

An ex employee has been saying how the kyanite line is the biggest offender of the lululemon execs taking over the brand and focusing on low quality and high markups. Wondering everyone’s experience with the fleeces, I was interested because I wanted a form fitting comfortable light jacket to wear at work and in the city everyday. I’m more interested in the athletic look and high quality aspect since I can’t walk around OCT-NOV with a sleeveless shirt and I heard the kyanite Lt feels like wearing nothing. Is the Arenite as form fitting and comfortable as the kyanite LT? The Arenite was around before the quality drop happened. Which one should I go for if the kyanite line is decent?

Why is there so much talk here about Arc being a Chinese company and therefore quality is suffering? So many unwarranted assumptions. Arc is owned by a Chinese conglomerate, but the same company also owns Salomon, Wilson, and others. As far as I know, Arc is still very much a Canadian company and run their design from their Canadian offices. Sure there’s always change at all companies. But think it’s quite a jump to say just because the company has a new parent company that somehow quality just completely goes downhill. I’m still very happy with all the Arc stuff I own. But I don’t just own Arc stuff and I will continue to buy from other brands as well.
