I lived outside of Israel as a teenager and in my school there were two druze families. One from Lebanon and the other one from Syria. They all considered themselves Arabs. I served with 4 druze during my military service (finished it around 6 years ago) and they would get very angry at any insinuation that they are Arabs. I believe it is because in Israel usually "Arabs" are considered the enemy and the druze don't want any part of that. More on reddit.com

Culturally yes, well for those who live in the middle east at least. Ethnically it's more complicated as some DNA tests show that the Druze may have come from the Caucasus region while others show that they have mainly Mediterranean roots.

Does the regional, colloquial Arabic spoken by Druze communities differ at all from that spoken by (non-Druze) Arabs in the same region? The only difference that I can think of is that rural Druze communities retain the classical Arabic pronunciation of Qaf ( /q/ ). More on reddit.com

What is the origin of the Druze faith?
The Druze faith originated in 11th-century Egypt as an offshoot of Ismaสฟฤซlฤซ Shiสฟism during the reign of the sixth Fatimid caliph, al-แธคฤkim bi-Amr Allฤh. The movement was persecuted under al-แธคฤkimโs successor and in Egypt it eventually died out, but the community survived in mountainous areas of Syria and Lebanon.

Silly question I know, but whenever I see their name come up on this sub, there is always someone (non-Durzi) who's quick to point out how they're not Arab, and someone else like "yes they are"...
So which is it?
Also: Do you feel there has been a deterioration in relations with Druze in the past 6 years? Because of the Nationality Law, windmill situation in the Golan, rise in crime rate, and the current government. What can be done to repair relations?
