FWIW I installed mine in October. I used the 3m and the clips to screw into the soffit, it was cold when I did it and the tape worked but I wasn’t convinced it would hold. I ended up at the local Home Depot and bought more clips that were similar. I didn’t want to have to go back up and fix them, a bit of belt and suspenders approach. They haven’t moved but 1 of the 3 strings is giving me an issue, one light will work intermittently, not at all or stay on, the others are just dead. Now I have to troubleshoot that. Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Review: Year-Round Holiday Decorations, Just One Trip Up the Ladder via @ConsumerReports
December 12, 2024 - When I say that these Govee permanent outdoor lights offer every lighting effect you could want, I really mean it. The controls in the app include premade “scenes” for every holiday big or small, from Hanukkah to Father’s Day, for a total of 42 holiday scenes within the Festival category alone. And there are four other categories of scenes: Natural, Life, Emotion, and the Dallas Mavericks (yes, really).

r/Govee on Reddit: How well do Govee permanent outdoor lights (regular or pro) hold up?
July 29, 2024 -

I'm getting ready to install my govee permanent outdoor lights pro and I'm a bit nervous. My question is, how well do the lights hold up long term? My neighbor had some installed and they either fell down or he took them down. I don't want to use just the 3m take that comes with it so I'm looking for more secure ways to attach the lights. I've seen people 3d printing mounting brackets and have considered that. What are the recommendations for the most secure way to install the lights, and also how well are your lights holding up?

Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights review - never climb that ladder again - The Gadgeteer
July 31, 2023 - The installation of the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights, especially when I had to replace two strands after failing to measure correctly was a longer than expected process in the hot July sun. However, having done it and seeing the final product, I would do it again in a heartbeat since it means years of avoiding the seasonal ladder game (and re-buying holiday lights every few years).

Living In My GameSpace: Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Prism Review - GameSpace.com
October 25, 2025 - Traditional holiday lights are a jumbled mess, and it can take hours just to untangle everything, followed by a painful installation. try to wrangle a 100’ of cord and hang it from small S-hooks screwed into your roof eave. The end result is a bunch of loose-hanging wire with an underwhelming display of dimly lit bulbs. Govee’s approach with the Prisms is much easier, and handling 150 feet of lights is a breeze. Each set of Permanent Outdoor Lights Prism is divided into shorter 16-foot segments, with watertight connectors that tie the entire strand of lights together.

The Best Permanent Outdoor Lights (2025): Govee, Eufy, Lepro | WIRED
November 11, 2025 - It's similar to design controls that you'd see on smart bulbs and smart string lights. A great app. This goes hand in hand with the need for individual light control—a good app determines whether that and other features are accessible. Govee and Eufy, two of our favorite permanent outdoor lights we've tried, both have good apps that are easy to use and come with preloaded designs.

r/Govee on Reddit: Anyone here compared Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro vs Nanoleaf’s new Matter version
October 24, 2025 -

I’m planning a permanent outdoor light install and leaning toward the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro (100 ft) but I keep seeing the new Nanoleaf Matter Smart Multicolor kit (49 ft) popping up.

For anyone who’s actually compared or cross-shopped both:

How do they stack up in brightness, color accuracy, and diffusion?

Which has the better app experience for scheduling, grouping, and scene effects?

Any differences in durability or waterproofing after a few months outdoors?

How about customer support? (How responsive was support when you had an issue?)

Does Govee’s longer run length outweigh Nanoleaf’s Matter/HomeKit integration?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s tested both systems or switched from one brand to the other. Trying to decide if the extra polish on Nanoleaf is worth giving up Govee’s flexibility and footage. (Cross-posting to r/Nanoleaf for broader feedback.)

If I were doing all this again, I’d look hard at Asahom. They’ve been really thoughtful about what they include as well as the WLED support. I can’t comment about reliability Govee has been good for us and very reliable over about two years, but the app is a disaster. I do see what look like some QC issues from time to time (post from today showing a light that looks like it literally burned, some power adapter posts from the last year that show burned holes. In general those seem to be very rare. I’d also look at Philipps Festiava. Their Hue indoor products are best in class if pricey, and the outdoor lights are actually UL rated (not fake UL rated like some Chinese brands). I don’t have direct experience with them but I’d look given brand experience. I do have direct experience with Nanoleaf indoor products and I will never buy another one again. They constantly (and I do mean constantly) lose connection, need to be reset, fall off the wall, etc etc. Their support is not great. They are the least reliable smart home products we own, which is not something I want when I’m “permanently” screwing it to difficult to access outdoor areas of my house. Speaking generally, Matter is a tricky protocol. I’ve had far better experience with just normal WiFi, Zwave, and Zigbee. I control our Govee lights using WLED and MQTT over WiFi and that has worked well. Hope this all helps!

I would advise also looking at the ASAHOM pro lights. I just recently compared against Govee and prefer them for their built in WLED and brighter bulbs. My 2 cents. Wow Nanoleafs includes a track mounting system nice touch.

Govee Outdoor String Lights 2 review: Smart string lights for less
Power draw is stated at a maximum ... but for what it’s worth, I got just 40.5 watts with all three segments connected at full power. Lights can be clipped directly from the base or attached with plastic clips that attach to the wiring. ... The Govee Outdoor String Lights 2 ... There are few easier ways to liven up a large, dark space than to drape string lights over it. There’s just something about balls of light hanging overhead--especially if they are in color--that sets a mood for good times. They’re also an effective way to bring lighting to places where it wouldn’t otherwise be practical
