February 9, 2021 - Increase humidity by misting your monitor’s enclosure 2x/day with a large pressure sprayer or automatic misting system. Mist in the morning and at night, preferably when the lights are off. If you need more help maintaining humidity, install a cool mist humidifier connected to a humidistat to run at night. Argus monitors are very comfortable around the water, so it’s best to provide a pool of water that is deep and large enough for them to soak and swim around in.

Starting research to own an Argus Monitor.

The big problem with dirt is that ... your monitor enclosures. Other substrates can be used, but the difference a good dirt makes is so significant that I would not recommend anything else over the long term. For animals undergoing medical care or quarenteen, or for those in need of temporary housing, newspaper, care fresh, or cypress mulch or aspen chips can be used. Dirt for burrowing. February 22, 2024 - Those who follow the Argus learn very quickly that goalkeeping is the equivalent of a meal. They are intelligent animals with a relatively high metabolism for a reptile, and in my experience, they “do it” with much more enthusiasm than most other reptiles. . So be careful during feeding time.

I’ve been debating this awhile, and I want to look into getting an argus. Not only do I appreciate their intelligence, but I love big lizards and how unique their care is compared to something like a snake.
I have a few years until I can get one, but I love, love researching reptiles and I want to make sure I am 100% ready for one in the future! I am committed to spending as much as needed!
I was just wondering if anyone in this sub had things they wish they knew, pointers, or great care websites to start looking at, along with breeders?

Be willing to put an awful lot of time into them daily. Tame argus's don't happen by accident, but are incredibly rewarding when you get there with them. They can also be very intimidating when they want to be, never be too far away from a pair of welding gloves when giving them time out of the enclosure - which they really appreciate by the way. Access to a window they can look out of whilst in the enclosure would be a big bonus for them aswell! They can literally spend hours just staring into the neighbourhood. You don't have to have them be a free roaming monitor and you shouldn't for their environmental health reasons, but these are big, active and sometimes to me their intelligence is terrifying types of lizard. This goes against pretty much what every caresheet says, but once tamed I've found mine to be a very clingy/emotional animal, sometimes irritatingly clingy but I wouldn't swap him for the world.
