Just bought Armstrong vinyl premium roll flooring for my kitchen. Contractor rolled it out and started relief cuts as I was watching. We he go 3/4 of the way done the flooring had several defects. I am the one who was with him as I purchased it at Menards. It was on a fresh roll and recent manufacturing date so it wasn’t old stock. Anyway. I called Armstrong and asked about their warranty. They said not their problem. Call where I purchased. Went to Menards and talked to customer service Manager showed him pictures and reciepts After getting runaround. He offered $24.00 refund on over $900.00 of flooring. I immediately called their corporate office and also got runaround. I then called Menards. Credit Card issuer and put in decrepinsy and. Told them about defective product. They aren’t getting paid until I get just reimbursement. Contractor says he can cut and seam repair the flooring but will cost me over $250 extra. Looking into getting LVP but having a hard time deciding on brands. We are hoping to do most of the upstairs: living room, family room, hallway and the kitchen. We are currently comparing LifeProof with Armstrong Rigid core elements. Does anyone else have any recommendations for quality LVP?
Coretec is great. I was between lifeproof and coretec, went with coretec. Very brief pros and cons- lifeproof is more textured with a wood feel but the wear layer is insanely thin. It will scratch easily. Coretec (pro plus, 2.99+ models are better) does not have as much of a wood feel (still looks really good though) but the wear layer is commercial grade so it is really difficult to scratch. Other than that both are pretty similar, both waterproof etc. I did coretec pro plus in my entire house (1600 sqft) and I love it. I did have it professionally installed. I would say it comes down to if you have kids or dogs, and how much a big scratch will bug you. No kids or pets, not worried about scratches- I might go with lifeproof. Conversely I like Coretec if you do have kids or pets and are worried about scratches. Not familiar with Armstrong. More on reddit.com

The truth about vinyl plank
I appreciate your post because we were debating using it in our sunroom. The primary reason was that it was thin and would help us avoid a height differential from the house, which is getting 5/8 engineered hardwood. Secondary rationale was that the room would get more animal, kids, sand traffic and might hold up better? Maybe it’s better to just accept the height transition. We’ll probably remove/renovate the sunroom in 10 years, so longevity isn’t a huge concern More on reddit.com

We are hoping to stay around the $2.99 per square price point but would consider paying more if the quality is significantly better. Also if there is a reason to avoid LVP altogether feel free to let me know. Sorry if this post is in the wrong format first time posting here.

I’m doing the same comparison shopping right now. I was also considering some of the offerings on BuildDirect since I bought laminate there a few years ago and my contractor and installers all raved how good it was when they worked with it. I like the LifeProof option but am having a hard time nailing down the actual wear-layer info. For example. On the website different colors show different thicknesses and wear layer thicknesses. And some reviews on HD and even YouTube were excellent regarding wear. Then others weren’t. I think a lighter color may show the scratches less, and sticking with the 12mil colors is obviously better than the 6mil colors. CoreTec seems excessively expensive if on a budget... at least in my area. I haven’t found it for less than $3.90/sq ft. I’ve been hoping to stick to a price similar to what your budget is.

Be forewarned, neither company will stand behind their flooring and the "lifetime warranty" they sell you is meaningless. We purchased an Armstrong vinyl plank floor (A6899 Luxe Plank) from them for our kitchen. It was supposed to be their top-of-the-line floor and was sold with a lifetime warranty.

Around the internet, I see a good deal of reservations with respect to Armstrong. I've not been in the industry for long and am trying to understand the dislike toward it.
I've also noticed that it's been selling a good amount during this COVID flooring craze. So I'm wondering why it's selling so well if it's so bad. Thanks :)

Our expensive vinyl tiles yellowed to a smokers brown within 2 years (even parts not in the sun) and will have to be replaced. Hard pass.
