If I read the JSONArray constructors correctly, you can build them from any Collection (arrayList is a subclass of Collection) like so:
ArrayList<String> list = new ArrayList<String>();
list.add("foo");
list.add("baar");
JSONArray jsArray = new JSONArray(list);

Use Gson library to convert ArrayList to JsonArray.
Gson gson = new GsonBuilder().create();
JsonArray myCustomArray = gson.toJsonTree(myCustomList).getAsJsonArray();
Below code should work for your case.
List<Customer> customerList = CustomerDB.selectAll();
Gson gson = new Gson();
JsonElement element = gson.toJsonTree(customerList, new TypeToken<List<Customer>>() {}.getType());
if (! element.isJsonArray() ) {
// fail appropriately
throw new SomeException();
}
JsonArray jsonArray = element.getAsJsonArray();
Heck, use List interface to collect values before converting it JSON Tree.
As an additional answer, it can also be made shorter.
List<Customer> customerList = CustomerDB.selectAll();
JsonArray result = (JsonArray) new Gson().toJsonTree(customerList,
new TypeToken<List<Customer>>() {
}.getType());
If you want or need to work with a Java array then you can always use the java.util.Arrays utility classes' static asList() method to convert your array to a List.
Something along those lines should work.
String mStringArray[] = { "String1", "String2" };
JSONArray mJSONArray = new JSONArray(Arrays.asList(mStringArray));
Beware that code is written offhand so consider it pseudo-code.
ArrayList<String> list = new ArrayList<String>();
list.add("blah");
list.add("bleh");
JSONArray jsArray = new JSONArray(list);
This is only an example using a string arraylist
ArrayList<String> listdata = new ArrayList<String>();
JSONArray jArray = (JSONArray)jsonObject;
if (jArray != null) {
for (int i=0;i<jArray.length();i++){
listdata.add(jArray.getString(i));
}
}
I've done it using Gson (by Google).
Add the following line to your module's build.gradle:
dependencies {
// ...
// Note that `compile` will be deprecated. Use `implementation` instead.
// See https://stackoverflow.com/a/44409111 for more info
implementation 'com.google.code.gson:gson:2.8.2'
}

JSONArray ar = new JSONArray();
for (int i = 0; i < objectList.size(); i++) {
JSONObject objects = new JSONObject();
objects.put("a", objectlist.get(i).getA();
objects.put("b", objectlist.get(i).getB();
ar.put(objects);
}
jOuter.put("s",ar);
Your s entry is actually a JsonArray, while your p is just a property. Here I am using Gson but you could easily apply it to whichever library you are using. So you can do the following:
JsonObject jObj = new JsonObject();
jObj.addProperty("p", 1);
JsonArray sArr = new JsonArray();
for (int i = 0; i < objectList.size(); i++)
{
JsonObject innerObj = new JsonObject();
innerObj.addProperty("a:"+objectList.get(i).getA());
innerObj.addProperty("b:"+objectList.get(i).getB());
sArr.add(innerObj);
}
jObj.addProperty("s", sArr);
The output is:
{
"p":1,
"s":[{"a":1,"b":2},{"a":3,"b":4}]
}
You can use the GSON library to accomplish this.
ArrayList<String> mylist = new ArrayList<String> ();
mylist.add("abc");
mylist.add("cfd");
mylist.add("ert");
mylist.add("fg");
mylist.add("ujk");
String json = new Gson().toJson(mylist);
You can refer to the GSON User Guide for more support.
JSONArray jsArray = new JSONArray(mylist);
Or
Gson gson = new Gson();
String jsonArray = gson.toJson(mylist);
Get java-json.jar and Gson.jar here
Simple example :
List<Model> data = new ArrayList<>();
JSONArray jsonArray = jsonObject.getJSONArray("data");
for (int i = 0; i < jsonArray.length(); i++) {
data.add(new Model(/*fill your data*/));
}
Move this before the for loop
ArrayList<OrderUser> listOrderUser = new ArrayList<OrderUser>();
Then simply add an item using, listOrderUser.add(<your_model_item>);
and after the for loop, do a notifyDataSetChanged(); on the recyclerView Adapter
