Hardware USB Serial Console Drivers
For indoor APs and Gateways/Controllers that use the AP-CBL-SER (Header style), Mini-USB cables, Micro-USB cables, or the orange AP-CBL-SERU cable, please visit FTDI’s driver support website to download the appropriate driers required for your device and console cable. For outdoor APs that use both the Micro-USB cable and the USB-C cables, the serial emulator is built in to the AP and uses Silabs drivers. If you are still not sure which driver to download, please open a support case with HPE Aruba NetworkingTechnical Assistance on the Support Portal, or call 1-800-WiFi-LAN.

Additionally, if your machine is online at the time, you should be able to get Windows to download the driver through Windows Update when you connect to a switch for the first time.

Hi there
I am trying to connect my laptop to the micro usb port on both our Aruba 8325 switches but cannot. I can connect to the RJ45 port just fine. Also the micro usb port works just find on our 6300m series devices. Any suggestions?

Are you using the special orange cable? Regular USB-A to Micro USB will not work.

Hi, We had the same issue and it ended up being that aruba ended up using two different vendors for their console port hardware. So there were two different drivers that it could be and we were using the wrong one. one is silicon labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers - Silicon Labs (silabs.com) the other was maxlinear Software Drivers - MaxLinear I hope this helps and saves you guys time.

I am trying to console into some Aruba 505 AP to reset them (reset button doesnt work)...
I have downloaded the Silicon Lab usb to uart driver, but it gives me the error 10 cannot start device. Windows doesnt have driver for the console cable. I tried the one from HP and it didnt work either. Ive tried three different computers, and 3 different Aps. I only have one cable...
Thoughts? On How I can reset these MFers without a console cable... I unplug from power and hold reset button and plug back in and hold for 20 seconds and nothing-- just keeps blinking green, set-me-up never comes back.

I am using the ap console cable- ( the orange one you have to buy separately)( greedy people) I’ve tried a win 7 pc, three win 10 PCs- all have the same issue. When you first got the console cable for ap- you plugged it in and it worked? Or you had to install a special driver from somewhere else?? The aps are resetting- I go through that process and then wait like 20-30 mins and nothing happens. They are mien for sure. I unboxed them, and at the time tried to convert to campus aps- now I’m trying to go back to instant for a non-campus install. Starting to think my cable went bad...

Hi,
So, driver or no additional driver ? Simple classic « phone » usb-c to usb-a cable or special usb-c console/serial cable ? The console port is included in the switch or not ? I don’t get any COM port displayed in my windows 11 device manager so I cannot specify one in Putty. Some have the com port mount automatically (on Linux). The docs talk about a software ftdi driver. I installed it and nothing happened/no com port.
So, am I forced to buy a arubaConsoleCable ? Should I install the drivers « the right way » or is there a simple thing I completely missed (except my career choice)? Thank you in advance to help me access this brand new switch.
