small hint, you can save all this extra code to import and center the model. you can put a reference on it and rotate it all the same. import { Gltf, Center } from '@react-three/drei' if you want to have more control useGLTF, if you need full control gltfjsx ASCII is also already part of rt/postprocessing, though i guess the article is more about how the shader is working. but anyway ... import { EffectComposer, ASCII } from '@react-three/postprocessing'

Hello fellow motion designers! I'm calling out for experts beyond my skills 😅
I saw this cool effect in the background of this website: www.dragonfly.xyz, where there are some dope ASCII 3D models that turn as you scroll down the page, with the ASCII code constantly changing, and it even reacting to the cursor as it glides over with a RGB split effect. So many details! All I could figure out is that there is an image sequence of the model involved, so the 3D is prerendered somehow. Does anyone know how I could achieve a similar effect for another website, or where I can start learning how to do it myself?

Cool site! Checked the code. Looks like it's a custom WebGL solution that renders a 3d scene and then applies a ASCII filter and rgb split on top of that. Threejs library should be able to do that if you know how to code. I'm actually building a realtime editor tool for these kinds of things. Kind of a mini "After Effects" for interactive WebGL motion content. Do you need the effect for video or for a website? I don't have the ASCII filter in it yet, but I could write it for you if you want. Although the tool is meant more for web designers. So I don't yet have any video export (if you need this for a video production). But I'm pretty sure After Effects has plugins to do the ASCII. Afraid to self promo but drop me a dm or something if you're interested.

There are several things happening The ASCII aspect is some type of filter ontop of the image I imagine, like this but prebuilt for the site? You can see in the site you linked, they used the same filter for the headshots of staff. https://fxfactory.com/info/mosaic/?action=show Then you have images/3d models reacting to the mouse (before the ascii filter is applied) and the rgb hover effect too Try to break down all the different techniques & then look for tutorials specifically. But as it's for a website it comes with many different solutions compared to someone doing it to export as an mp4 (no reactiveness, etc)
