I'm in the market for bedroom furniture. Found the Starmore set at Ashley that I liked. Under $2500 for the king bed frame, two night stands, and a dresser. Not a terrible price and the furniture LOOKS nice. But holy cow have I gotten discouraged after reading the many horror stories about that store on this sub. Has anyone, anyone at all, had a good experience with them. At this point it very much feels like I'm in denial and am just searching for a reason to hit that buy button.
I’m seriously losing patience here. We needed a comfy, cuddle-friendly sectional, so we checked out the Ashley Lindyn series. At first, it felt amazing — soft, plush, like you’re floating. I thought, “Finally, the one.” Fast forward a few months… the chaise is sagging in the middle, cushions don’t bounce back, and that “plush” foam? Low-density Dacron that compresses like wet tissue.
People online are suggesting replacing the foam or DIY fixes — six months in, I shouldn’t have to babysit a sofa. The springs seem weak, and the fabric mats down way too quickly. Over $2k later, it feels like I’m sitting on a sinking ship. Definitely not Buy-It-For-Life.
I happened to check out a few other options too — I’d never heard of aLivingHome before, but it caught my eye with its denser foam, sturdier frames, and solid recliner mechanics. Even some big names like La-Z-Boy and Flexsteel looked promising on paper, but their styles feel dated and the prices are insane. On paper, aLivingHome seems like it could actually hold up without constantly sagging or losing support.
Has anyone actually lived with either Ashley or an aLivingHome recliner for a while? Or maybe tried some of the other big brands? I really need honest opinions before dropping another $2k.
We’re about to come into a little bit of money and have budgeted $15k for new furniture for the master bedroom, our toddler’s bedroom, and our living room. We got a 20% off coupon for Ashley in the mail but I’m not familiar with that brand. In the past we’ve bought from The Room Place and Bob’s Discount Furniture and have been relatively satisfied although they don’t seem to last very long. Is Ashley Furniture any better?
We’re located outside of Chicago and definitely want to see and touch the furniture before we buy it.
Thanks!
