I found the materials to be good quality. I didn’t order any styles that were particularly tight on the lower half so I didn’t notice any issue with them being see through. The issue I had was that, using their “fit assistant,” it suggested I would fit in a size 8 or 10, and when I tried on the 8’s I ordered, they were too big. That might be a me problem, or you might want to consider ordering a size down as well just to check fit. I’ve found some great dresses at Nordstrom Rack and T. J. Maxx. You need to dig and might need to go several times, but they often have great options for great prices. You can try them on which is a huge plus (and bring your heels with you). I’m not a huge fan of Zara in general, but I’ve seen some cute wedding guest options in store. IMO sizing is all over the place so beware! Also highly recommended borrowing from friends if you’re trying to save in costs and it’s an option for you! More on reddit.com

I have a wedding to attend in September at a winery in California. I'm in my 40's, size 14/16. I prefer long dresses. Everything I see looks like a MOB dress, bridesmaids dress or a sofa pattern. I ordered a dress from ASOS because it was 1. Affordable; 2. Came in Tall; and 3. Had all the elements I was searching for. It was technically a prom dress but honestly what’s the difference lol they’re all formal gowns. I love my dress. To the few people who’ve seen it in person, they cannot tell it was $100. I had a tailor take it in a smidge and she fixed some of the beading for me - that’s probably my only complaint. I also took invisible thread and secured the beading myself, just in case. The dress was actually stolen from my mailbox and I was so sad, but ASOS was so easy to work with. They refunded me and I was able to re-purchase the dress for the same price. I’m in the US tho so I can’t speak to how a Canadian process may go. Here’s the dress from ASOS website Here is me in the dress (the photo is a bit dark and the light makes it more yellow but it’s the only photo I have right now). It is more blush than their website shows, and honestly I’ve noticed that with several of their clothes, so that might be something to be wary of if you’re going for off-white. It may end up being more yellow or blush than you anticipate.

Hi everyone, I'm so lost haha. I have 3 weddings to attend this year, and I have such bad commitment issues when it comes to spending money that I'm just going in circles trying to decide on where to shop. For context, I've only been to 2 weddings before besides my own (a brother in law's, and my sister's). Bought from Lulus for both, really pretty dresses but wasn't super happy with how they fit and didn't have time to shop again. Money is pretty tight, my husband and I are saving to hopefully buy a house and start our family. Do yall have recommendations?? I feel like I should be having fun shopping but I'm just stressed.
If it helps, dress codes are:
Wedding 1: March in North Carolina. Baptist family, formal dress. Brother in law is the groom. Husband is in the party.
Wedding 2: July in South Carolina. Baptist family, no specific code, but the bride requested florals. Brother in law is the groom. (I have a lot of brothers in law lmao) Husband is not in the party.
Wedding 3: Halloween in Virginia. Baptist/Catholic family, no specific dress code but a Lord of the Rings theme (no costumes, just vibes). Bride and groom are friends of mine.
I'm also pretty short, 5'3". Thanks everyone!

I am searching for a nice, affordable wedding guest dress for this summer (under $250). I see lots of tea-length satin/silk dresses with strappy backs on, like, Pinterest, which I think are really pretty - but don't seem to see many good quality options on online stores. I'd love something that is versatile that I can wear for other occasions, so not overly dressy. I am a student so I also don't want to spend too much, but also don't want it to be cheaply made. Any ideas? Huge thanks for any advice! :)

This isn’t really answering your question about buying a dress so might not be the most helpful- but I love rent the runway for special events. You can rent a really nice dress for $40-$70 depending on what you’re looking for. That way you can wear something high quality without the high price tag and then you also aren’t stuck wearing the same thing all summer to your events. You can choose the outfits most appropriate for your events!
