What’s your guy’s opinion on both headsets?
I know the gen 4’s around launch had problems but if they didn’t what would you choose?!
The reason I say if it didn’t have problem is because a friend of mine recently got a new pair through amazon and he says they’re perfectly fine. I wonder if Astro is silently replacing the gen 4’s and sending out good pairs.
The 9x’s controls on the ear cup to crowded to me. Are they touchy?
Let me hear everyone’s thoughts please.
Steelseries arctis 9x vs Astro a50 gen 4
I went with the 9x because there is no base station you have to plug into the xbox and the Bluetooth functionality. Being able to keep my headset on while looking at my phone or taking a call while in between games is a great feature.

What do people recommend? Which is the king headset?

So I currently have the astro a50s gen 4 and using them on my xbox one x only. I've always been steelseries til this point and I do regret not sticking with. The problems I face daily, every since use is once turning my xbox on, the sound works but the mic doesn't. The only way is having to quickly unplug the base station, put the headset back on and wiggle it around to make it connect, then use it. This pisses me off a lot. Also the sound - voice chat / game adjuster on the side of the headset is so hit and miss, you press either side for either volume. Sometimes it doesn't work at all, other times it just acts like you've pressed it 100 times. It's hard to sometimes find that balance. I've also had to find guides on how to hard reset, when the headset just plain isn't turning on like it has dead battery, when I've been mid game with it on full charge.
I never had this issues on steelseries at all, I used the wireless H model until March this year. For the amount that the astros cost, I have to say I'm disappointed. They are comfy on the ears and sound OK when they are working, but so many techy issues like this have just turned me off ever buying astros again.
First off I would like to say I already owned Astro a20s and loved them. I was wondering for anyone with experience with the A50s if it’s worth it for me to get a refund on my 9x and spending an extra 100 dollars to get the A50 Gen 4. For anyone wondering why I’m doing this Steelseries sent me a defective headset I’ve waited almost a month to replace.
